  • Lost count and trying to break latent

I got my magey hands on a Gravedigger (while trying to get a Dissector for my BLU) and I was counting wrong on how much distortion (Lvl2 SC) was worth. I thought it was worth 2 and after I look it up (Two NPC summons later) I find it was worth 3. Normally it wouldnt be a probelm but my NPC was using WS that couldnt be SC with Scythe. In the mix of counting 2 for Distortion, there were quite a few 1s in there. My question is, is there a way I can see how points i accumilated? Unlike the Trail weapons these 500point weapon dont have a easy way of telling. I would say damage but being a BLM, my damage numbers very a lot per swing.

Only way to see is to number crunch LOTS.

It's easier to just use it as it is. Keep sueing it, and eventually you will know its broken.

    campaign is good.

I'm guessing that your damage is varying a lot because your skill isn't capped and/or your attack is rather low.

You can force a situation where your damage is more consistent by fighting Too Weak mobs that are far below your level. If you can get some fairly consistent damage numbers that way, I would suggest grabbing an Ivory Sickle. At 80 damage, it lies between a locked Gravedigger and unlocked Gravedigger.

My skill is 185 (I get skill-ups next to never) and my attack is kinda low.

I completely forgot about the Ivory Sickle. That has been collecting dust in my moogle storage.

I will try both ideas. Thanks for the suggestions

Campaign *is* fun, but I've heard (in game) that it doesn't count toward latent weapons. Is there any reliable testing on this?

Yeah, I was breaking latent on Trial Knuckles. I used them in Campaign cause they were faster than what I had. I then went to break them with a friend, and they broke 60 points before I thought they would. I got those 60 points in Campaign.

Back when the Mythic WS were still new, I remember seeing a program posted on BG. It'd check the WS points on your main weapon, and updated when you zoned. I used it, it worked. But my desktop isn't here, and I'm too lazy to check for the thread anyways.

If the latent breaks you'll have the WS in your menu as long as you have that weapon equipped. Concluding the quest simply gives you access to the WS on any weapon. EDIT: Disregard this completely, it was late at night and didn't realize you were talking about the KSNM crit weapons.

It's called "Latent Checker," and I think you can find it on the Windower forums, though it's not an official plugin. Bet if you Google it you'll find it.

Also: the only weapons you can break in campaign are those than target yourself, such as Moonlight or Starlight for club. However, other weapon skills will NOT break since the mobs do not grant XP.

Was about to say I'm positive you can't break latents in campaign....

Besieged works though (probably b/c you can skill up on the mobs? idk)

As I have posted before, you can break latents in campaign. I know because I have broken 2 different latents in campaign. Both Trial Knuckles and the Axe from KSNM (can't recall the name right now).

Besieged does NOT count, unfortunately. I had like 60 or 70 points marked from Besieged, and my latent didn't break when it would have if Besieged counted. (But again, the Moonlight and Starlight are special cases... which didn't matter for me since I was working on staff.)
