  • Retireing

Well I didn't know when this day would happen, but it has today.

Brickshouse is hanging up his subliger for good.

currently at lvl 48 Pld it has been near impossible to find a party or even a small group to level for only 2 hours. RL has made me busier than ever and I don’t have the time to play for 4 hours + of which parties are now wanting. I can't do missions or any higher level quests due to the time it takes. It has been 2 weeks now I have been LFP'ing and nothing, or I'm asked how long you can play and I say max 2 hours and its "no thanks".

Se really needs to look into providing events and levelling at higher levels that don't mean you have to be slaved to the screen for 4-8 hours at a time. 60% of SE's paid gamers are over 20 and 80% of them have a job, like myself.

Today I cancelled both my content ID's and when checked to see no money has gone out on the 2nd March I will be deleting the 8Gigs of data that it fills on my hard drive. The Cd's and DVD will be placed in a box to be kept in good condition until I may decide to join again or SE brings out a new one.

Meanwhile along with my hectic life I will be playing all the one player FF games again of which I will enjoy.

However because I'm leaving the game, does not mean I will up sticks from here (live with it those people who started groaning!) The forum and its people have welcomed me here with open arms and I have had many entertaining hours reading various peoples posts and joining in the banter. may this continue and I will continue with my presence here and posting funny stories etc and helping a few people out with things I can remember from the game. This forum is not just the game now, its a community of people with similar interests and in some cases a feeling of friendship and family.

    Keep enjoying the game peoples.

    Escort/EXP scroll quests.
    Campaign Ops.
EXP for doing CoP BCs and ENMs.
    Besieged.
    Campaigns.
    Empress Bands.
    Anniversery Rings.

    Oh, and ToA camps.

No offense, but it doesn't sound like you put much into levelling besides seeking. If EXP got any easier in this game, I'd probably quit because it had gotten too stupid.

      Re: Retireing

I got my last 3 levels by solo exping and doping quests it took 4 weeks to get 2 levels. with bands etc. The fact is the whole pull of the game is losing on me, I have played for over 2 years and I just can;t be bothered to log on these days, therefore why waste money. teh game to me lost its spark because I couldn;t get anywhere without having to grind for months due to not being able to party fopr long times, its even harder for us europeans because the lowest online population is during our prime time, and unless I stay up till 5am to get a decent party which quite frankly I wouldn't just for a game. explain to me what campaigns I can do at lvl 48 (which is my highest), besiged I can;t do until I'm lvl 50 as you don't get exp for it below that, no one is interested in doing cop 1-3's as they have already done it or just jno one wants to know and as for zilhart no will will let me do the nations 5-1 and 5-2 missions due to me being under lvl 50. Its harder than you think.

Sorry to see you stop playing Jarre but it's understandable. And you better not stop coming around here, you owe me some boarding school stories!!

Wow, always sad to see someone leave the game. Well, if you ever get the itch to play again, I've got a level 49 BLM that would happily party with you if you want to make your way to Hades. ^_^

Thanks but it will be for good. A lot has happened over the few years and alot will, my time playing games on teh computer has been dwindling for the last year, new things keeping me occupied while others are starting to take up more of my time.

Sometimes you have to say goodbye to somethings thta have entertained you over the years, but new things will entertain you in its place. I have my career, social life and health to think about now, all 3 very important. computer games is near the bottom of the pile at the moment.

Really if I had the chance to persuade you then I would tell you about an exciting fun job that relies on nobody.

I would then tell you all about the Beastmaster. How you can pretty much solo for all 75 levels and with nice exp returns. Pick up parties consisted of duo or trios. In which case after 2 hours if you had to leave it wouldn't effect the other Bsts because they can find a replacement or duo. Not to mention they would not hate you for it. In fact if you played the job right they will always seek for you. There was times when I was leveling Bst I would invite a duo partner who could only play for an hour. But on days he could go longer he would always seek me out.

Bst exp solo is based on your play style. You can just chug along and play it safe. Then there are those who go crazy with the job pushing its exp to the limits. When there was no TOUA I was making 2k-6k an hour. The 6k was with ring I might add. But from what I hear TOUA is even crazier exp. Throw in things like the fact you can log for the night in an exp camp and fo rthe most part log on and start right back up is a treat.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

FFXI doesn't really keep drawing you back in. I quit a year and a half ago, came back once, and haven't really had a desire to play again since. If you're bored with the game, you'll move on.

Well his best reason to having PLD to 48 in two years was "I'm european" and "not enough time" and then blaming SE for not enough events in which you get EXP.

Quite frankly, there are a lot of additional ways to get EXP and we only got more in this expansion, if SE added much more, people would be right for accusing them of dumbing down the game (and some have a fair bit to say about that now).

You can do Campaign as low as 48, I've done reasonably good EXP just doing it on SCH.

Getting Promys done - in all honesty - is not that hard. People just make it hard on themselves by sitting around expecting CoP statics and shouts in Jeuno/Whitegate to just happen. They don't. People make LSes and statics to do CoPs.

The "I'm european" bit just gets a little old too, I've heard it a lot, yet I know tons of european players that have overcome the issues that come with playing in the JP-dominant time slot. Hell, try being Australian. But then, I've known AUs that make it work too. It just takes coordination. Its like being successful at anything else, you have to make connections with people.

But people expect things to just come to them, they expect the game designer or community to do it for them. Its a really tiresome perspective.

Pretty much why all MMOs post FFXI are following the path of solo everything and most of the game instances can be zerged with any classes, and u can get to the cap in about a week or two.

I prefer the path FFXI has stuck with, with harsh penalties designed to make the player learn from their mistakes and become better overall. I'm so sick of all the babies out there that whine and complain that something is too hard and ruin if for everyone else. Go play Hello Kitty Online if u can't take a challenge and only want something easy!
