If you mean a dance fight like in West Side Story, then yes.

That's a lot of log reading, Icemage.

I was actually analyzing the logs for something else (trying to figure out what Square-Enix used for party structures, including jobs, based on the spells/abilities used by each player), then noticed that my list of players had grown much longer than 18.

Also note that it is not only possible but extremely likely that they used even more than the 26 in the video; there are three Aerns that spawn near the Jailer of Love/Absolute Virtue spawn area, and those have to be dealt with because they can and will link with AV - which would take several more players, as they are each IT+ to level 75s.

Maybe they cut together several battles where they had different people? It wouldn't really matter if all they wanted was to point to a specific thing.

does anyone else think that it is fishey that the video jumps. I say this because if these were the actual development team(has anyone confirmed in RL that these were not just hackers), couldn't they have inserted code into their fight which allowed for auto-reset of the 2hr cast time. Or maybe, SE will introduce a new item that instantly resets 2hr ability cast time(such as in besiged).

I feel the key point to this video has to do with 2hr ability/day of the week/direction AV is facing when he does the 2hr/ and spell(s) cast when he does the 2hr. the problem is that being a Bitch of a fight, AV is tough to test things out on.

It's kinda sad. The point was that your English is painfully bad, and you missed said point because your English is painfully bad.

Well both of those things seem very very unlikely to me. Why would it be on the PlayOnline Homepage then? And I don't think they will show a video now, without even any "Player uses ??? item." messages in the chatlog, if the clue is an item that has yet to exist..

As we all know by now though, SE likes to really puzzle players, and also likes to keep the players waiting for long periods of time before revealing anything new...

I personally am interested in what is being in said in the major Japanese FFXI community's, just to see what they've got so far!

^ I don't think the JPs have gotten any farther than we (the NAs/EUs) have. We're still left with a lot of questions, a lot of difficult-to-test scenarios, and Absolute Virtue is still a nightmare to even tank and survive against, let alone damage.

I've not heard of a single attempt that even managed to dent him since the video was released.

We know "more" than we did before, but that's still a very far cry from knowing what to do when he Chainspell Tornado II's your entire tank party, aside from just lying down and dying in disgust.

I am currently of the mind that the video wasn't a single run.

Sure, they got it right eventually, but, still, that doesn't mean that S-E didn't throw in some good shots from a failed run.

What's even more puzzling is why they would do such a thing, if they even did so. To confuse us/throw us off (it has clearly worked in that case)? Something important was recorded well there?

Still, if one tries to think of it as a single run, things don't add up. Pieces of video were taken apart and put back together, that is a fact (otherwise, the fight would have likely been hours regardless).

And you have to remember that, even with the provided hints, AV is still going to be the hardest NM in the game. So, showing said hints on a run that turned out to be doomed to fail is not unthinkable.

I seem to remember making similar claims about the Avesta videos and people hopping to the defense saying "Well, he had to edit/speed it up/turn graphics off/filters on so we could watch the video in a short sitting."

Players have a reason to lie, though - bragging rights and epeen. What reason would SE have to doctor multiple attempts? I hate to have to point it out, but I guess I have to.

The FFXI team created Absolute Virtue, I think they'd know how to beat him. At the same time, if the magician shows how he did all his tricks, it kinda spoils the fun of his show, doesn't it?

You are putting words in to my mouth as per the usual.

Although S-E created AV, that doesn't mean that they are completely invulnerable to it, and they themselves even stated that with secrets revealed, it's still going to be the toughest fight in the game.

Since S-E has nothing to utilize but secrets, and even with secrets you still aren't completely infalable, and it means it is very possible that S-E failed against AV, even pulling every trick in the book they programmed in to the thing.

Also, I never threw the fact that S-E knows how to beat it in to question (that'd be ignorant). What I threw in to question was S-E's skill in actually pulling it off, following it through in practice. I even said that they obviously must have beat it by this method at at least one point, but that doesn't mean every clip shown in the video was from a successful run.

And, really, it makes sense, especially when you consider all the hair-pulling done by those who question the sequence of events in the video in the first place.
