My First/Second U/O Airship Battle
I have been trying to find a party for the last 2 months and this past Sunday I saw someone shouting for the U/O One to be Feared Airship Battle. I do need to get to sea eventually to get my higher level BLU spells, so let see if they have a BLM in the party already. To my surprise, they wanted my BLU instead of my BLM (For everything up to Sunday I used my BLM because that is what everyone wanted for any mission/event).
We went in as
BLU/NIN (me) (First time)
BLU/NIN (First time)
WHM/BLM (First time)
SAM/NIN(Veteran at the fight)
PLD/WAR(Veteran at the fight)
WAR/NIN (First time)
Items:
CCB Polymer Pump (6)
All Melee had Ircarus Wings
Everyone had RR items
All mage types had Yag drinks.
All mage types had Vile elixirs (except me because im broke
Everyone had Hi-Potions (I brung only two Hi-Potions +3 because of doing Assault PSC Excavation Duty on Saturday)
First Attempt:
Ate food and buffed.
Half way through the Mammet(sp?) fight, the whm d/c. Lets just say that the other BLU and I were the only ones who could silence the Mammets(sp?). Anyway and we got -ga to death by the other 2 (the other BLU dropped his and mine was about to drop with 2 more hits). Right before we died, I got Cold Wave to stick and mine died anyway. As we all are laying there tasting an Airship deck for the first time, the whm comes back. Unfortunatly Not all the Mammets(sp?) were at there starting points and they all linked...
Second Attempt:
Now we have 2 yellow liquids
The WAR/NIN was given one and the SAM/NIN was given one. This time we tore through the Mammets with ease. I did have a little trouble with mine because, just before I did CA + Red Lotus + Death Scissors, the stupid Mammet(sp?) used the immune to all physical ability it has. All I could do is use Poison Breath until it wore. I know they cant be poisoned but I was using it for the breath damage. The other blu help me with the few HP mine had left then we both split up and helped the other members. (Note: The other Blu and I were spam spelling our Mammets(sp?) to death: Head Butt, Bludegon, Head Butt, Mancilar Bite(sp?), rinse and repeat. That is why our Mammets were dead while everyone else had about 1/3 to 1/2 hp left on theirs)
Omega fight was difficult. My main job was to keep Omega slowed with Filament hold(sp?)We wiped once here. The PLD lost hate to the WHM because and someone forgot to use the CCB Polymer Pump at 60%. Two Missile attacks from Omega pretty much decimated the party. We reraised, waited for weakened to wear, and healed to full. We change strageties slightly, we had the PLD in the left corner to pull Omega after we started the fight again with a CCB Polymrer Pump. This way Omega would not be facing anyone but the PLD. The rest of the fight goes smoothly.
Ultima fight was easier then Omega. Once again my main job was to keep Ultima slowed with Filament Hold(sp?). We use the same stragety as the second half of the Omega fight but let the PLD take the first AoE then run to the left corner. When Ultima got to around 30%, the WHM pull hate from the PLD again and got 3 shot (Two hits and a WS). The PLD got hate back and he was slowly dying. The both BLUs were low on mp and the PLD was out of mp. The SAM said we were going to wipe again...well we didnt.
Everyone 2 Houred, I pop my second Yag drink, the other blu and I got into a Head Butt rythm and reduced the damage inflicted on the PLD. (Note: we could not stun Ultima from of any of his WS but Stun was landing for about 1 second). I use Frightful Roar, Stinking Cloud, and then I see the WHM reraise. The WHM 2 Houred. I CA + Red Lotus + Death Scissors and after me the other blu CA + Red Lotus + Sickle Slash. Then all of our 2 Hours were gone and Ultima only had about 3% left. I need about 4 hits to get enough for a WS. Then the PLD drops. Then Ultima turns his aggression back to the WHM. I guess the WHM had Blink up because I saw Ultima make a move at them but no damage was done. Then I see in the dialog box Ultima readies Antimatter... The next round I get the last two hits to get 102% TP and I let lose an (unresisted or crited a few times?) Vorpal for 288 because the two Vorpal Blade I did earlier was for 55 and 103. Then I suddenly cant move. I thought I died and was lagging before the falling to the ground dead animation. Then I see Losrase defeats Ultima in the dialog box. (For any veterans out there, why didnt Antimatter go off? It was one full round before I had enough TP to do Vorpal Blade.)
