Although I had collected a few zinc ore, (got them over a long period of time though, which isn't too good) I handed those in, and then a friend ingame said that the yag necklace hunt was much easier. So I took their advice, and found that yes.... indeed it is. So that's what I've started doing to raise Norg fame. (farming them in Giddeus)
I'm just wondering though.... for anyone here with much higher job levels than me - the Yagudo are very common throughout Castle Oztroja I believe. (I went in there once, about 2 or 3yrs ago to complete one of the Star Onion Brigade quests)
Has anyone with a rather high job level ever been on the hunt for Yag necklaces in Castle Oztroja? Are the necklaces easy to come by in there at all, or is it only Giddeus where they are most common? (not that I'm going to try hunting yag necklaces in there at my level of course! I'm just curious as to how common the drop rate is for them in there , that's all)
I would probably trust FFXIclopedia over random statements at Allakhazam. In any case, the correct answer is "it doesn't matter" because you need much more fame than rank 2 to get the higher level scrolls, and there aren't quite enough quests in Norg itself to reach that fame rank from your current level.
Doesn't sound like too much of a problem to me.
I'm not a high level nin yet, but I guess I can do some of the quests with my WHM in time while levelling the various jobs I have.
You also need quite a bit of fame to access Leviathan, if you're ever interested in playing Summoner.

I don't know if you ever remember that I mentioned it some months back now. Doesn't seem like it. Maybe you weren't one of those to read my comment about Summoner, I don't know.
But anyway..... I have completely ceased from levelling SMN since about 2 or 3 yrs ago, and won't be doing anything about it in the near future either.
I got interested in it for a while, but once I had reached level 15 on it, I decided I didn't like the job anymore. I don't like the way it works! It eats up too much of your mp, and since you have to use a mage as sub in parties, I'm not sure about higher levels, but there's no way you can use it in parties at lower levels, cause you need the mp for battle spells (if you're BLM sub) or for healing (if you're WHM sub) and you cannot use a SMN pet at the same time, which I find to very awkward indeed!
I much prefer DRG than SMN! At least you can keep your pet out while you are resting up too. (unlike SMN ) That's one of the cool things I really like about DRG.

As far as I know the Yagudo in Castle Oztroja drop necklaces as well but because they're higher level monsters they take longer to kill as opposed to the lower level ones in Giddeus which die if you even so much throw a threatening glance in their direction. Easy to kill means more killed in shorter time which means more necklace drops.
Also, you sure do like using brackets in your text, don't you?

You can roll up tons of necklaces in Giddeus by one-hit-killing everything. It doesn't take so very long, though getting to/from Giddeus is a pain in the butt.
I actually used the Zinc Ore quest, as I found it was easier to just mine in Zeruhn Mines while getting a few levels of Blacksmithing in the process and making some pocket change from the rarer ores. Took longer than killing Yagudo would have, but getting into Zeruhn from Bastok is much faster than getting into Giddeus from Windurst, so that breaks the monotony.
