Trying To Get To SSG. Please Help!

Excuse me everyone?

I am having a bit of trouble trying to get to the SSG. (Sea Serpent Grotto) Can anyone help me please? I just completed the supplies quest for the Elshimo Lowlands region, so obviously that outpost is in the Yuhtunga Jungle. (marked at G-11 on the map)

Now, once I had got to the outpost there, I immediately thought... cool! The enterance to SSG is only a few metres away to the left of the outpost, and I thought I could then continue on left to F-11 from there.
But I only just realised that you cannot cross that point between G-11 and F-11 because it ends at a long cliff face which you cannot drop down.

Is there instead, a hole somewhere, or a route I am missing out on, in trying to get to SSG?

Now, you may aswell say something like, get someone ingame to take you there instead of posting here about it. And yes.... I do infact know a couple of people ingame who can help me get there too. But I've reached that stage where I just feel that I really want to do this by myself instead. (I don't know how to explain what this feeling is, but I hope you guys can understand)

When I'm following someone on choco through the jungle, it doesn't really give me the chance to stop and look for myself where I am, if you see what I mean.
I wanted to try this out for myself, but I just ended up getting rather lost at G-11 in the process.

Is there any chance that someone could use that map to draw me a route of how to get to SSG please, so that I can use it to get there under my own steam, instead of having to follow someone else to get there? It would be really helpful if someone could.

Yes, there are several holes right there. Just drop down one close to the edge of the cliff, and you'll be set. Be sure to have sneak up, because the mobs down there will aggro to sound.

Just drop down the hole closest to the middle of the cliff, it will lead out to the lower area and the entrance to SSG is behind the big waterfall.

(If your back is to the outpost in Yuhtunga) Just left of the outpost there is a hole in the ground. Drop down the hole and move right down the tunnel. Then you will drop down into a open area and SSG is dead ahead behind the waterfall.

Yeah... I did try turning around and going down one of the big holes in that immediate area! (there only seemed to be one too if I recall)
It was the one that had a slope going down, but just at the end of it, was a block in the way, so I couldn't continue on from there.

Maybe there is more than one hole then, and maybe I tried going down the wrong one in the process.
But I was in the right area though, when I got to the outpost, right?

Oh, and btw - being on choco, I don't really need Sneak before SSG do I?
It's only if I happen to automatically come off my choco that I will be using it.
And yes... I know that you cannot use a choco in the SSG, (for some reason why, which I have never really known. Could anyone explain why please?) so I will probably be using sneak/invis to get to Norg.

Ya there is a couple of holes there. I believe the one(s) closest to the cliff have the way through.

Can't use chocobo in SSG because it's a dungeon. Chocobos have never been able to enter dungeons or cities.

PHEW! I managed to get to Norg in the end with the helpful replies here!

Okay, now I have another question to ask.
I started the quest for the very first nin scroll, Tonko: Ichi. (since my nin is now level 9)

I spoke to the NPC in Norg, (Keal is the name) then went off to the room with the woodden floor (in the SSG) to check the iron boxes for the key item. But I didn't get it. When I clicked the ??? there, it just said something about boxes at that spot on the floor. I think I'm probably going to need more Norg fame to get it.

From the quest link here - "It's Not Your Vault" it says that you need fame level 3 to get it, and mine is only level 2 right now. (that sounds very obvious then I guess) But I went over to that quest on the allakhazam site, and someone on there said they read somewhere that you needed level 4 fame for this.

So now I'm not sure whether it's level 3 or 4 you need for it. (I'm doing the yag necklace hunt for Norg fame, and know what to do for it. So I don't need any help on that one)

Anyone know the true correct fame level here please?

I would probably trust FFXIclopedia over random statements at Allakhazam. In any case, the correct answer is "it doesn't matter" because you need much more fame than rank 2 to get the higher level scrolls, and there aren't quite enough quests in Norg itself to reach that fame rank from your current level. You also need quite a bit of fame to access Leviathan, if you're ever interested in playing Summoner.

Back in the days when the Mithra sold rice balls in the 70gil region outside of the Tenshodo in Jeuno we'd take that as a sign that our fame was high enough. I'm not sure if it still holds true these days.

Does Norg share fame with any of the other major cities? If so, you could do the millioncorn quest until you're blue in the face.

No, sort of. Raising city fame won't help raise Norg fame, but there are quests in each of the cities that will. Giving Yag necklaces to Nanaa Mihgo in Windurst will raise Norg fame, as will trading Zink ore to Talib in Port Bastok. Tenshodo quests raise Norg fame.
