  • What would you do in this situation...

There was a little drama over the Swift Belts though and I want you all to give me your opinions.

The leader of the run told me and somebody else to lot for next pop. I lotted over the other person, but one of his friends who was carrying his trig popped it. We killed the mob, got the Swift Belt, and the leader and him said that he should get the drop.

Everyone on Vent was telling me to lot it, but I just couldn't... I really didn't want to argue but before you know it there's people vouching for me and others on the other side of the argument.

Long story short, I let the other guy have it. Luckily, it dropped the next pop, which I got it, but out of curiousity, what would you guys do?

I probably wouldn't have, just to avoid drama in a game thats already dripping with it, but if the leader told you to lot it beforehand, then there's nothing wrong with lotting it. If they had a problem with that setup then they should have spoken up before triggering it.

I don't like people changing plans half way through something. There's a good chance I'd lot anyways.

I would call everyone jerks, blacklist them, and then log out in a huff.

            But that's probably not reasonable.

Hate it when people do that kind of stupid crap -.-

I would have lotted, and when they started bitching... "hey you told me to lot on next drop, not my fault I did what you told me to" if they want to keep crying after that, I would leave and not even worry about them.

I would lot it and then tell them why...

                  Actually, scratch that.

I would tell them when they popped it that since it was my turn, that they could have my Codex but the drop should be mine...and if they didn't agree, I would say that I had lot rights on it but they could have my codex if I won the lot.

That type of behavior seems very common in {Long time} runs like O-hat and Swift belt. I believe they do it so they can "get out" of the run by "budging" and then logging soon after.

I would thank them graciuosly for popping the NM for me and for helping me get *MY* swiftbelt and offer to let them use my trigger item.

It really depends though, I don't know what was worked out before hand (your trigger item your drops or whatever) Also, did the leader tell everyone that you two were going to lot and the NM belonged to whoever got the higher lot? Or at least whoever got the higher lot would trade first?

Basically, if he did tell that to the entire party and they pop the NM before me, that belt is mine. If they do that then I'm suspecting that they are going to leave soon as they get a belt to drop and win the lot.

Hmm, just reread it, let me guess, leader was a friend of his? What I would have done would depend greatly on my relationship with the other people and theirs with each other.

But hey, I'm still a little irritated that someone decided to pop Argus prematurely while we were all resting, with no warning. So maybe I'd have said just let them take it instead.... But even so that belt should have been yours. It worked out anyway, but still, manners are manners.

I mean, we've been fighting crabs for the past half hour, mages are at 1/2mp or less, no one has buffs up, and what part of, "Let's rest and buff up before fighting Argus" did they not understand?

If it had been agreed beforehand that whoever won the /random was the one that got the drop and you had the highest you have every right to the lot. Had the situation been reversed and he won he would have expected to get it so why should he ask you to step aside. I dislike people who agree to terms then change their minds about them when the /random doesn't go their way.

Oh ya I woulda lotted on it. If I won the lot, it would go 1 of 2 ways after that: They accept the fact I lotted (and won) an item I was supposed to and then use my trigger item for the next pop and everything goes fine; Or they bitch and moan and call me out and I keep my new belt and my trigger item and take off.

If I lost, I would just use my trigger to pop the next one and lot on it still.

In the end, people are assholes.
