Hey, I'm a former player. FFXI was my first MMORPG and I've played it on and off for the past few years and once again I'm turning it on. However, this time its different. Me and 2 friends of mine are planning to all start together.
So what job should I pick? I'll be honest and say I don't like playing hybrids like Red Mages for example. I can do tanking or damage but here are a few classes I was primarily interested in.
BLM - I love the massive amount of damage they output, however from what I've heard is that at higher levels they are no longer desired because of the downtime. This kinda draws me away from BLM but is there an efficient way to put out steady damage without running outta mana?
SAM - Really looking like a good choice. I played a SAM for a while and loved it. Good damage output and a lot of potential. However, my friend also was interested in becoming a SAM. Would 2 SAM work? I'd imagine it would be good for skill chains.
NIN - I've also tanked as a NIN before. I found it fun and exciting but costly also. Also my other friend was interested in rollin a NIN.
RNG - A fun job. I enjoyed it but it I dunno if I wanna go to 75 with a RNG.
I've tried DRK and I found out later that without good gear it can be difficult to gain parties especially competing with other DD's such as SAM.
I'm not well educated on most of the Aht Urghan and WotG jobs so any incite on those would be great too. Thanks =). Also some recommendations for starting jobs? I don't think three warriors be the most viable option to 30... Thank you =).
