That processor is more then fine. If there's anything I'd worry about it would be the graphics card. It's an integrated card and will be extremely slow. I don't know how much FFXI stresses the graphics card but I'd recommend adding a non-integrated one.

Yeah as Naraya said, might be best to get a seperate graphics card (make sure its windows vista certified) Also don't forget you need to download the playonline files for vista, their are a few threads here on this.

I can still run it on an Athlon 64 3000 with 1024mb PC3200 ram, and a Geforce FX5600 (256mb) graphics card, yeah i can't get full res, but it still works ok for me. I use windows xp as vista will cause 2/3rds of my programes and periferals to stop working!

Try running the benchmark program on it: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/dow...l?pageID=media

Re: Can FFXI work on this pc?? Help plz

i have not bought it yet so i can try it.

what about this graphics card? 128MB ATI® Radeon™ HD or GEFORCE 8400 GS 256MB PCI-E GRAPHICS CARD2400 Pro graphics

Since the Integrated nVidia GeForce will be slow would it work fine if its not a intergrated one?

Could any1 give me a list of what graphics card are good for ffxi? or even the ones you are using?

thx for the quick reply, i will prob just buy a seperate one

FFXI apparently runs smoother with an ATI one. Can anyone else add? (as I only have a nvidia one)

Recent nVidia drivers (Forceware 169.17 or later) seemed to have fixed issues with FFXI.

How on earth could anyone be worried about running anything on that processor?

Onboard video is the bane of every PC gamers existance! While onboard video is fine for surfing the net and doing other basic things it's just not good for playing games. FFXI has very low system requirements and that system would get close to max resoultion if you had a halfway decent video card(doesn't even have to be top of the line) and maybe a bit more ram...heck with Vista you need all the crazy ram you can get!

GeForce 6 is far more then the game needs, and there is no way he needs more then 2GB ram.

Re: Can FFXI work on this pc?? Help plz

its a pc from dell, the only reason i worried about the processor has its a Athlon, i didnt know if ffxi could play on it, well i take it the graphics card (Integrated nVidia) isnt good then? i was thinking of buying a 8300 nvidia one for it but wasnt sure, just need to know if ffxi could be played on it before spending my money on sumthing that doesnt play ffxi.

yeah Mhurron i checked the vista and ffxi needs and 2gb ram is all i need for them.

truth is i dont really now much about pc's s i play on xbox 360

Could any1 give me a link to the folders or downloads i need to play this on vista?

                      many thx again

to Murhon: Yeah I thought I saw 1 gig...I've been really tired with work and all lately. Also abut the video: intgrated Geforce cards are not the same as their add-in counterparts. I work on a dumb tech support line and I've had a couple of complainers about them...

to the OP: AMD makes great chips! The Athlon X-2 series is darn close anything intel Dual core.

An integrated geforce 6150 isn't good enough for FFXI for two reasons. First of all its based on the geforce 6200, a budget card that is not really meant to be played games on. The card is slower then the geforce 5 series cards and probably even then most of the geforce 4 series.

Second of all, integrated cards don't have any dedicated memory available. The cards have to use a part of the main memory, which is slower and has much higher access times. This would kill the performance of every card you can find.

My mother actually has such a card in her pc and when she got it I tried playing some 3+ year old games on it. Even on the lowest settings the framerates were horrible.

The GeForce integrated cards that had major problems were the GeForce 4/400 MX ones. With the last few generations the M integrated chips are the same as the M GPU's on separate cards. The only real difference is if it has it's own dedicated memory or takes some of the system ram, which isn't really a problem when you have far more RAM then you need or use in the first place.

Minimum system requirements for FFXI is a GeForce Card. Note the lack of a number, yes, that means the first GeForce card.

I have played FFXI on an Intel 950 (MacBook) and an Intel 965. The 6150 more then enough.
