    Re: The Yuhtunga Jungle Challenge

I think you also need a key to get to that area, but a fomor dropped that too. Since I was basically doing *everything* for the alliance, I got that too.

I mean, I went in as a BLM, and they put it on me to get everyone drawn in. That's how bad these people were.

I did one time-- sadly, it was actually easier than going in an alliance. I went in an alliance, got the key or whatever, it disolved because alliances tend to be full of stupid assholes, I got a friend to come later to help me finish it.
      He was a Lv6SMN.
      Galka.
But we still got through it pretty easily ><
I soloed mine and duo that one all the time, it's especially easy to do on Thf (no need to hunt a key). If you're smart the only thing that would even have a chance of aggroing would be the Taurus and it's not like you can use anything special to get past them anyway. And even with that, the only real dangerous part is that last hallway with two Tarus.

The only reason to bring more then two people down there for that mission (assuming one person isn't a Thf) is to actually kill the minotaur, and that can be done with 4-5 people.

As for the "Yuhtunga Jungle Challenge", I can't say I ever 'officially' done it, but I have had my fair amount of opportunities to MSG my way through that place on a 30-ish job. I certainly remember my first time through there, lvl 28ish thf out by the OP for the first time...and I set my HP there. No nin, so no tabi, no PT so no invis/tele, no high lvls in my LS so no help there and no powders...

      Did it in two tries.

It's sort of like how it's easier to get just one or two people through Ifrit's Cauldron to the ZM5 headstone than it is with a dozen people.

I've duo'ed Minotaur quite a few times. 1 BST with a 2 houred VT/IT Oil Spill can solo Minotaur with luck. Usually when I try to solo it though, I get unlucky due to lag or some other strange issue, and my pet gets doomed when Minotaur is down to 20% HP. One time, I went in to help my friend do this mission, and he went as MNK. He basically stood outside of AoE range until the very end. And when my Oil Spill get hit with Doom and died at about 10% HP, the MNK jumped in with his 2 hour. So that worked out quite nicely.

2 BSTs each with a 2 houred Oil Spill for a pet can easily take down Minotaur.

I've also read about NINs being able to duo Minotaur (perhaps even solo it) by backwards tanking and spinning the Elemental Ni Wheel.

My solution to that hallway has been to go as THF/NIN, have Reraise up, Flee through the hallway, and train every Taurus and Fomor along the way into the hallway with the candle lever puzzle. I eat a small exp loss, but all of the mobs despawn and my buddies get an easy stroll.

On my own, I could sneak by without notice, but when I bring a friend I always just take the EXP hit and pull them both away from the hall. Once I die, they depop, and we're home free. And with no fomor hate, even in red HP and no sneak, they don't even notice I'm there.

I was at the grotto and got invited to Yhoator. Leader canceled on me a bit later. I decided to brave the journey back to Khazam rather than Warp and pay for the airship. Figured I could Sleep + Deod or Sleep + Warp if I did get aggro, but wound up not needing it. It was 2003 and I had no money for Silent Oil.

Nope, just finished Promyvion Dem/Holla/Mea actually. Quit right after CoP and there's more important stuff for me to do at the moment. Doesn't sound very practical for me unless WHM or BLM + THF can kill the minotaur.
