    On the contrary, the Tamas Ring (which I have) is extremely useful for anyone who is mage-focused.

    It's not just one slot - it's a guaranteed piece of gear you can use for any mage job in any 30+ level capped situation, from BCNM to Promyvion to ENM. It takes the place of a half dozen other rings you'd either have to acquire or store or get temporarily when doing those activities, and it serves its function better than any other comparable piece of gear.

      Well, INT and MND are never used at the same time, but MP and -Enimity most certainly are.

        Re: Tamas or Rajas?

        First, you don't have to redo any fight to re-aquire the ring if you want a different one. You drop it, wait 30 days, go back to Marble Bridge and select a new ring. You don't have to redo the fight like the Divine Might earring. I know this because I have swapped twice.

        At first I chose Rajas because it is the most unique ring. It has both dex and str that all melee jobs use at the same time, and comes with a bonus of store TP. I did this when my highest melee job was ninja at 37 (where it still is). This was before you could swap rings, and the only jobs I had was 75whm and 40 blm.

        Then I decided I didn't want to spend 300k on another Snow Ring, so when SE allowed the ring swapping I dropped it and picked up a Tamas (there was no wait time for the initial swap, I don't know if that is still in effect or just when this was introduced).

        The Tamas is nice, but like you said you won't typically use both MND and INT at the same time. I believe however some RDM spells are based on both MND and INT, but I alas am no RDM expert so can't confirm that. Another advanatage of Tamas for RDM is the MP for your convert ratio. Many RDMs I know like the ring for that (non-tarus of course, since we tarus have to bolster our HP not our MP for a perfect ratio). The -enmity is nice, and is unique to the slot, but overall not overly important.

        After leveling my war and sam up a bit I deceided I wanted my Rajas back, so I dropped the Tamas and waited till I could re-receive my Rajas. I don't really miss my Tamas, though I might if I was a RDM as opposed to BLM and WHM. The Rajas really offers more unique stats to the slot than any other ring in my opinion. But given your position I'd recommend a Tamas for now. If you ever decide to grind another melee job to 75 I'd suggest you drop it and get a Rajas, but for now a Tamas will suit your needs. Rajas is nice for leveling (don't have to upgrade but one ring every few levels as opposed to two), but really you wouldn't notice a big boost to from it till later levels. Perhaps reconsider your ring choice in the 50s or 60s of a melee job, but for now Tamas will suit you fine.

          Not really. The tamas ring serves multiple purposes for black mage: - enmity, mp and int, all of which I can't get otherwise for 2 ring slots.

            Geez. "Which ring would the OP use the most?"

            The answer to that question determines which is the most useful.
            Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,
            yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
            Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
            leaving no trace in the water.

              Not only that, but I believe I'm right in thinking that the first time you drop the ring you don't actually have to wait 28 days (it is 28 btw, not 30)? Having said that, this may only apply if you've had the ring already for 28 days or more.

              Either way, there is no decision to be made yet, the OP should get Tamas now then if he/she ever decides level a DD job to 75 they can decide any time between 30 and 75 whether or not to swap the Tamas for a Rajas.
