I was thinking about that myself too.... coz from what I have seen, none of the past city areas in WoTG actually have any Auction houses. In the past, they have all been replaced by stalls with NPC's which are related to Campaign Ops, missions and such. And looking at the "ffxi atlas" site, Al Zahbi doesn't appear to have an AH either.

The only one of the three cities in the past which I have not made my way to yet, is Sandy [S], so unless there is an AH there, then I really have no idea where the only AH is at the moment.

That being said.... do you have any trouble trying to target the NPC's which replace the AH's if anyone had a summoned pet there? I just thought..... coz you said that.... and that's where the AH's would be in the present, and so there isn't much of a difference in where they are.

      I'm just curious I guess.

Snowball: The AH referenced *was* Al Zahbi. The Tarus standing under the overhang in the center of the southernmost square are the AH, but they only work if the Galka overseer is there. The same is true for the Taru delivery people in the back (bunch of slackers, all of them). That's the only AH where pets are allowed.

But then again, Al Zahbi gets attacked like every hour on the hour, so you kinda need them there (and anything else you can bring to bear).

BBQ: The same could be said of every model in the game, honestly. As a matter of fact, I have no real reason to see any gear anyone else has on while I'm at the AH, so they should all just take off their gear just for me, cuz I like my system resources.

Heh I been playing this game for such a long time I can't ever remember a starting nation being controlled by beastmen. I have seen other cities own ours but never the beastmen.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Well, that was in reference to Wings cities, not the present day starter towns and environs. Wings cities can be attacked directly by the Beastmen, but they have to control the adjacent zones to do so, which they haven't been able to since the majority of the player base has gotten into Wings.

True. But he was complaining about them getting in the way of targeting using F8.

Like Lilith said, the same could be be said for any model. When you're at an AH there's usually a lot of people there. I can guarantee you that most of them will be AFK using up system resources for no reason, just like any pet, in fact probably more since character models are higher poly than pets usually are.

The areas where pets are summonable are usually listed as "Dungeons". Al Zahbi is not considered a Dungeon. This is because there are more things possible in those other than just summoning pets, such as using Mazurka.

I thought the litmus test for "dungeon" is whether Escape works or not? If it doesn't work, it's "outdoors" (or "town"), right?

I'm actually not sure about that. But even if Al Zahbi doesn't have Escape ability, it isn't Outdoors because of it's Auction House and Residential Area nor is it Town because of the monsters able to be in it.

I suggest it fits nice in the Custom or Miscellaneous list

I wonder what Qufim Island is, then ... it's not a dungeon since you can't Escape, and it's not really outdoors (or so it seems) since weather effects don't count towards the SMN quest.

Ahh right! I didn't think of it like that. I'm sorry.

In most inner city zones where there is an AH, it would say it on the map, aided by the inclusion of a little hammer icon, like THIS
That's what I was looking for when looking at the map for Al Zahbi, and when I didn't see one, I just presumed there was no AH there.

But now you mention it, I guess you're right about the taru AH there. (I have access to Whitegate, but haven't been there very often to check everything out)
The only other place I can think of right now, where the AH is represented by NPC's, is below ground near one of the chocobo stables in Port Jeuno. (or is it Upper or Lower Jeuno? I can't remember right now. I know it's definitely one of those anyway)

                            So yeps.... you are correct.
                            Sorry about that.

If your system cannot handle one or two pets being in the area, you need a new system. FFXI doesn't take up many resources to begin with, and you sure as hell won't stand a chance in Dynamis or Besieged or some Campaign battles.

                              I think you're just being a baby.
