Well, today after wandering around Aht Urgan killing time, I zoned into The Pit. Before today, I never payed much interest to Pankration, but after watching a few random matched I became interested. I started running around collecting soul plates, and ended up with two particular ones: "Main Job Monk" and "Monk Job Traits"
After this, I looked around FFXI Wiki for what monster my actual combatant should be. I scrolled down the list of monster families that could have main job set as Monk, and found... Tauri. "Now thats the monster I want to have fighting for me" I thought. I remembered when I did Sancrium for CoP missions, and remembered that Stegotaurs where in abundance right at the zone there, so took off to get me a Tarus.
Now herein lies the problem: I cannot seem to capture a Tarus soul plate! If Wiki is correct, Tarus can not only be captured on a plate, but also can be combatants, so I should have no problem getting one. However, I have already gone through 8 Soul Plates and still don't have a Tarus image.
Now my question: Can only certain monsters in a family be captured? Or am I just having bad luck? does the lv 50 cap have anything to do with it? Has anyone captures a Tarus themselves? Help me out here!
