  • RA/EX what does it all mean?

    Hello everyone,

I hope this is not too noobish a question. I'm not a noob by any means, but I never really understood what it mean when an item is ra, ex, or ra/ex. I know that an item cannot be traded or sold if it's ra/ex. This is my understanding.

ra: you cannot sell or trade this item.
ex: you can only have 1 of this item.
ra/ex: you cannot sell or trade this item and you can only have 1.

What items can you sell in bazaar but can't sell in AH? I assume if you can put it in your bazaar can you trade it. I remember there are some items you can put in AH but you can't trade.

You don't quite have it right. "Ra" stands for "Rare" and "Ex" stands for "Exclusive." The meanings are relatively clear if you think about what those words mean.

You can only have one of any Rare item. (They're rare, after all.)
You can't give/sell/trade an Exclusive item to another player. (They are exclusive to you.)
Rare/Exclusive is just the combination of those two: You can only have one, and only you can have it.

There are separate flags for whether items can be put on the AH, in bazaar, sold to merchants, etc. But those flags aren't visible on the item; you just have to find out by trying, or by looking it up.

Edit: Here, have a couple links. Ex and Ra.

So there are no items that you can put in AH but cannot trade?

I'd say that's fairly accurate. Wouldn't make much sense if I can put an item on auction but can't actually trade it to someone.

However, there are items that can be traded/bazaared but can't be put on AH.

I can't say 100% definitively, but I don't think there are. It wouldn't make much sense to be able to take money off a random stranger for an item, but not be able to give it to a friend. If you can sell it to another player in some fashion, you can trade it to another player.

if you can place it in the auction house, you can trade it to others, but there are some items you can trade to others, that can not be placed in AH, but this number is very small ;p
