when i go to places like palborough mines and such it says i dont have a map for that place. where can i get a map for places like this?

If you are unclear about the letter and number positions, go to the map section in FFXI (you know... "/map") and scroll to the sides and you'll understand how to find the areas. I hope that helps!

you can buy some maps but others must be quested. The nice guy told you about the pal mines but there are many ways to get pas..including opening chests...heck I don't even have all the maps!Shadowneko's FFXI Newbie Guide 2009
