  • Expansions - Worth getting now?

I've got only the first two expansions - Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia as i got the The 2006 Collection from a shop this weekend.
So i've just started playing again with a new character, is it worth getting the newer expansions at this stage?

Yes, especially Treasures of Aht Urgan at higher levels. For Wings of the Goddess, I haven't bought it since I quit, but I believe all the expansions will be worth it in the long run if you plan to dedicate some time to FFXI. Plus, you'll have more job options to choose from in each expansion (except Chains of Promanthia).

Aaliyah is more than a woman and she graduated with a 4.0 GPA (she only had 1 "C" grade ever in her life).

I bolded and underlined the "is" just for you, Malacite.

You should always get them, especially due to how the community "changes". e.g
"Meh, exping in sky is freaking pointless..lets go to a staging point where we're 10x more likely to die due to silence and amnesia!"

Only shortly after ToAU came out.

So yeah, you'll want CoP (if you do Blue Mage for the spells and just overall kick ass story)

      Zilart comes standard now

ToAU for a cool story and where everyone and their grandmothers pet goat EXP 55+

WoTG for Dancer/SCH/Cait Sith and Campaign and soon enough the story.

Wings is great for campain XP(some have reported getting 1,500 XP in an hour doing that)...but I'm about to take an FFXI break due to funding issues.(Can't afford to pay for this right now). You'll really want them all around lvl 30 or so for job unlock quests since at least 5 jobs are not accessable without them.

FFXI is about teamwork...and having a large list of classes that you can swap to anytime you want! The main reason I never liked other MMOs is that I hated being bound to the job I picked at the start.
