  • Question about CD keys

Currently, Im three expansions behind in FFXI. I wanted to purchase the Vana'diel collection 2008 until I realized there was no PC version. Can I use the PS2 CD keys on a PC version of the game? Of course Im gonna have to find a way to install the other stuff too but hey...

    Re: Question about CD keys

With the 08, you can buy them online but it's really expensive right now. I've seen them go for about $80 for the PC version. You might just want to wait or talk to your local Gamestop/EB Games

should be able to as long as they're from the same region.

yes the key for the PS2 version will work, like Feba said, you need it to be the same regain as your current account.

2008 Collection is currently only released for PS2 and Xbox 360 outside of Japan. Only Japan has the PC 2008 Collection for the next 3-6 months, and registration codes from that would be locked to only making or updating a Japanese account. Also, Wings of the Goddess doesn't seem to be usable if the expansion is from the wrong region (excepting NA/EU overlaps). Install of JP WotG over NA core game, or vice versa, seems to generate a -9001 error saying the install path is invalid.

Square of America almost always delays release of an all-in-one for PC for a few months after a new expansion releases, while Japan gets them the same day.

You're just not looking in the right places. I've got torrents for all the Japanese and American expansions and core game. You could also just borrow discs from a friend that plays on PC.

Registration codes are only locked to region, not platform.

                Re: Question about CD keys

The codes are not system locked, they are only region locked. This means you can create an account with unused codes from any edition but you can't use JP codes on an NA edtion...it's also the same on the EU edition. So if you have the NA edition you can only use NA codes, ETC.
