    Re: Royal Jelly, In-Depth

Honestly though, never has anyone died in Royal Jelly from my runs melees together on one end. I would Silence everything and Bind, so they will cast spells on me the healer more often(which stoneskin just gobbles up ever so easily). So i dont know how that happened..but this BC is certainetly a cakewalk.

      Re: Royal Jelly, In-Depth

Hmm, now that I think about it I wonder if our mage was doing the Bind/Silence/Gravity thing. It's possible that they weren't, which would explain the sudden Jelly lovin' they always showed at the end towards one of us.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

        Re: Royal Jelly, In-Depth

With DRG/WHM or DRG/RDM, it's possible to duo this bc. I've heard of DRG soloing it, but I haven't tried it and don't plan to any time soon. I duoed about 5-6 runs though and we typically only had to deal with 2 or 3 jellys merging at the end. I definitely recommend taking a mage or going DRG x3 to make it easier.

I can't believe this thread is still hanging around LOL. I prolly didn't mention in the O.P., but this is a very safe BCNM that is good to get some money drops. Also, only one THANKS?! WTF!

Why were you expecting thanks for posting redundant info? Everyone knows about Royal Jelly already.

Try making a guide for some obscure BCNM no one does.

              Resurrecting....

I'm thinking of doing this BCNM with some LS members, and all of the reading I've done says to go with DRGs for your DD's b/c of the piercing damage-

Has anyone done this with 2x RNG + Mage instead of 2x DRG + Mage? Here's my thinking- Since RNG can also take advantage of the weakness to piercing damage, but in addition to that, they can also contribute to binding by way of Shadowbind and Shadowstitch (though this won't be quite as effective).

I'm not RNG 40 yet so I don't really know the range of Shadowbind, but I hear it's pretty tremendous... if this is the case would it be possible for mage to Grav/Bind the 4 slimes on one side, the RNG to Shadowbind 2 slimes farthest away on the other side, and then duo the slimes closest? I know Shadowbind doesn't last a long time, but I'm thinking maybe DRGs are more efficient DDs at this BCNM or something? Anyways, Shadowbind would buy a little bit of extra time to finish the fight. If you had one RNG using Bolts as well you'd have the benfits of Acid Bolt, and Bloody Bolts could help relieve the mages' curing responsibilities.

Last little benefit I see is that b/c the jellies can cast bind it would be beneficial to have ranged attack so that your DD doesn't get put on hold simply because you've been bound.

Thoughts, suggestions? Anything I'm missing here? B/c really, I can't see why this wouldn't be a popular setup.

                Re: Royal Jelly, In-Depth

*ANY* 2 heavy melee, non-mnk, DDs can tear the crap outta this fight. Rng especially with Shadowbind and bolt spamming.

And fyi, Jellies aren't weak to Piercing. They resist it just as much as they do slashing. They just resist Blunt moreso then the other two.

You can do this with any 2 DD plus Mage. Shit, I did it as BLU with a WAR. DRG is popular do to all the extra damage you can do with spamming jumps and your Wyvern breaths.

                    Re: Royal Jelly, In-Depth

...I just actually read the whole thread and just have to add two comments

First off, War/Mnk with a gaxe blows the CRAP out of a War/Nin with anything else in terms of efficiancey in this fight. Counter freaking rocks and if you waste time casting shadows...which should be stripped in under 5 seconds...then you're doing it wrong.

And second...people die in this? There's 8 jellies, 4 on the healer, two on each DD. Make sure you stand out of melee range of the ones you're not hitting and their lolspells shouldn't even make a dent in you. In all my times doing this I've seen a queen once, and seen deaths even less then that. Hell my friends were doing this once and one of the DDs D/C'd halfway through and the Sam and Rdm ended up duoing the rest of it. Pre-ToAU even so no Hasso/Seigan.

Easy fight, but crap drop rates so it's a waste of seals for anyone past 40.

What Ziero said... This fight is so easy i go either as a naked drg or rdm depending on who we got going. There's really no need to overthink this fight... DRG is best, RNG rocks too, i used to take my rng until i decided i didn't want to pay for anymore bolts to pwn this BCNM...

I wouldn't say "DRG is best." WAR has Sturmwind, Double Attack, Berserk, Acid Bolts, Mighty Strikes. SAM has Store TP, Hasso, Meditate, good WS. PUP could probably nuke them. BLU is BLU, it can spam spells for awesome spike damage since there's no need to worry about downtime in a BCNM.

This DRG and RNG stuff was fueled by the erroneous notion that slimes are weak to piercing.

I haven't seen Sturmwind used on a jelly but double thrust is far better on the jellies than any of the tachi's... by far...

Sturmwind is as strong or stronger then Double Thrust and has a chance for DA to proc in it sending it's damage through the roof.

People are recommending 2x Drg/mage for this not because of the piercing damage nor is it for Jump spamming, but because you can duo it this way. There's also the fact that if you do want to bring a third person along then they can come as pretty much any job, which is kinda nice. As I recall the jellies are resistant to all forms of physical damage, just not as much so as the standard jelly.

Also, drops are truly craptastic, I would not recommend this BCNM to anyone. If you're doing it for the Utsu: Ni spell, I've seen more of those from the Steamed Sprouts BCNM, actually I've just seen alot better drops from that one period.

I've gotten decent rewards/Ni drops from this. I'd rather spam this than get 6 people for Steamed Sprouts (including a BRD for sleeping), and have to wait that much longer to be done with the run.
