Seeker and this is exactly why.

This isn't so much a poll as a thinly veiled attempt at belittling people who prefer seeking to cobbling together parties.
I am not belitting anyone, yes you can craft and solo but i am just interest to see what is the population enjoy seeking and the population enjoy making.

You can do whatever you want during seeking but what i am looking for is an overall feeling.

I do agree about the wording is abit done badly, i was simply just describling the type.

These are all situational but what do you feel overall.

What job you are can be a deciding factor of if you're going to seek, as opposed to make a party. For example, ninjas, red mages, bards, whitemages, and paladins have no problems getting parties for the most part, so it's a lot easy for them to just put their flag up and let someone else do all the work.

However, when I was staticing my Samurai with my friend's monk, we literally had to create every party from scratch, because there are way too many damn DD's that play this game. >.<

Re: What type are you ? Seeker or maker of party?

I'm more of a seeker, pretty much because I find building PTs to be aggravating. No one wants the leader tag next to thier name, but once they've joined they'll either stand there braindead waiting for you to finish or tell you about every RDM, BRD, COR, NIN and PLD that has a very specific search comment they didn't bother to read. Like "Away" or "JP only"

The other reason? I play jobs that can solo, if they can't so they're typically support classes. I'm not gonna die if I don't level today because they are plenty of other ways to feel accomplished and I may level doing them.

Some would say that the person who builds the PT is proactive and takes the initiative, but that fails when your party leader has gimped gear. Some people will build PTs because they know people are mindless enough to follow the leader and not question them. I'll question a leader if his gear isn't up to spec and he uses a questionable subjob, especially after sub-level because I take my job that seriously and don't wish to tolerate someone that won't as a leader.

In other words, sorry Wrongfeifong, I'd probably pass on you as a leader based on what you've told me of levelling your jobs. Maybe I'm still wired by how things were in the Zilart/Promathia days, but even if its the anal approach, in the end, I come out looking very nice on my jobs. I'm not even a very rich player, I look up everything I can quest, NM camp and so on to make my character better.

All that said, I'm usually fine with taking the lead on missions and such, because I usually set the terms and know what I'm getting from the people joining me.

When I get invited to a party (or invite someone for that matter), I usually assess the gear and jobs of the members in the party. If I see something really out of the ordinary, I just leave the party or kick the person out. I don't know about everyone else, but I try to keep on top of that.

Something like this actually happened to me, which I reported in another thread. A samurai with level 36 strength rings, tachi of trials, and a bunch of other crappy gear got invited into my party. When I asked him if he had a better sword, he said he couldn't afford one. >_> Suffice to say, he wasn't in my party that much longer.

Re: What type are you ? Seeker or maker of party?

I will often seek because I'm burnt from leading something else or dont feel like taking the "burdan" of trying to organize 5 random people who could have zero to plenty of skills.

There are rare times when if the pick of seekers is plenty and there are good spots open to camp, I'll make a quick party and head out to take advantage of the situation.

So not really 50/50, but meh.

lately for lack of time I've been tring to do both, but usually I just don't see the makings of a good party running about on seek. I also hate that the "party leader" must hunt replacemant party members all night long in order to keep Xping...(I really hate doing that)

One of the things I hate about being a leader is people who get invited and then act like the leader. I always explain what is going on so my pt is always updated. "I just sent out 3 /t's to the available rdms" or "I can't get a nin so I'm looking for a pld, any objections?" etc. There are always people that get into the pt and start barking orders. "We need to get two bards because that is the best setup." or "Two drks in this party won't work well so replace one with a sam." If you know what makes the best parties, then you are the leader. Re: What type are you ? Seeker or maker of party?

It really depends. Most of the time I'm just too damn lazy make a PT of my own. I also have to take into account how crowded certain areas are, so the chances of me making a PT during Friday prime time is pretty much slim to none.

"Seeker - who don't feel like making party and rather sit in whitegate seeking 3-4 hours." The only time I've sat around that long while seeking is when I'm writing a paper / general homework / studying - otherwise I'm out soloing merits.

When I unlazy and actually do attempt form my own PT though, I always take a few minutes of my time to do a /sea all 70-75 bhafthicket, caedarva, etc before choosing a camp (usually followed up by sending an inquiring tell to the bhafthicket PTs and finding out whether they're camped at Nyzul or Mamool). No one wants to waste time =p
