Not sure if this is the place to post it, but since I don't see a music section... Though I suppose this could possibly fall under the fan creation... Anyways So, lately I've gotten a bit more into the offline side of things of FFXI like cosplaying, art, conventions, etc. While checking some things I noticed that several people actually could play the music from in-game on things like the flute. Such as at fanfest one person dressed a BRD was apparently going around playing things like Ballad and Madrigal on a flute! Then there these various youtube videos of people playing things like the sandy theme on a flute. Now, I'm sure part of this is just being self taught and listing and learning and such, but at the same time, I have to figure that someone, somewhere, has put these down into notation form. So, does anyone know where I can find some? I'm particularly interested in things for the Flute as that is what I play. Of course, I imagine a few things in the same range could be adapted... but I'm not really that advanced of a musician hehe. Thanks!

Re: Sheet Music from FFXI
ah, well, no, I'm pretty sure there is no whatever-script-flute-uses for it out there, although you might be able to ask someone for it.
most video game music seems to be learned by ear, anyway.

Re: Sheet Music from FFXI
Yea, I doubt there is anything official, but I'm hoping that maybe someone has done some transcribing or something, or that it's something closeish to flute (such as clarinet) which I can maybe adept a little. Or that someone who HAS learned it by ear also just happened to put it down on paper hehe. Thanks though.

Re: Sheet Music from FFXI
There's probably a program out there that would transcribe the music from piano to flute for you. Used to be that you could google for a MIDI file, have some kind of mixing software, and figure it out pretty easy based on that, but I don't know about the availability of FFXI MIDI files. I used to do that for FFVI back around when it was first released to figure out piano and trumpet parts, transcribed from each other or just the actual parts.~ Araius - 75 RDM - 75 BLU - 99.8 +3 Alchemy - Valefor ~

Re: Sheet Music from FFXI
I know for the soundtracks and major songs there are a few MIDIs out there, but one of the problems with trying that method is that I want to play solo, and from what I understand that method would pull every part. Plus, some of the songs I want only exist in the game dats... and I don't know if I could pull those and put them in midi form. Speaking of dats... does anyone happen to know how to hear the BRD songs out of game? As for a program, that is possible, but more then likely a google search would just bring up a bunch of people willing to do it for a fee. And even if there is a prog like that I imagine some of the chording and such that are put into piano scores would be hard for a program to translate into flute and still sound right. Sort of like how Babelfish is sort of disjointed and more engrishy then english if you try to translate something. You still get the general idea at least though.

Re: Sheet Music from FFXI
all you have to do is find a midi of the song you want
get a free program that allows you to import the midi song, and change it into sheet music and bam! there you go!
you can choose to have it on any instrument. I'll have to look for that program again if you want it.
