I've been visiting my parents every weekend lately and I've been either bringing my PC or my 360 and TV. They have 2 TVs but my brother plays FFXI with me so its more reasonable to bring my PC and play with him instead of lugging a 360 and another Tv with me every weekend. But here's my question...Can you have FFXI support dual screens? Not like Gauntlet style but more like Halo 3...you can sign in with 2 different gammer tags 2 different POL IDs. I think this would be great and convient. Of course i would expect limitations....but i don't see any problems with it...

Re: For Xbox 360 only.
that would not work, in games like Halo and others, you have one instance of the game running with split screen action, but with FFXI, to get that to work, you would need to have 2 instances of FFXI running on the same system, and that would have many issues of its own......-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: For Xbox 360 only.
If you mean two accounts running on two screens, based off the same computer, that is very possible. It happens a lot end-game, when some players have two accounts. You just need to configure the computer to run each FFXI window on a different screen, after that it's just a matter of booting up both games at the same time. For this, you will need a windower. I'm not sure if SE's official one does, but I know for a fact even Archbell's Lite version works ofr dual-boxing.
EDIT: Perhaps I misunderstood your question. If you mean running two instances of FFXI off of an XBOX 360, then yes, that is impossible(as of date). With two Xboxes, two TVs, that is possible though.Originally posted by EllipsesReally, it's just like pretty much every question about this game that begins with "Why." Re: For Xbox 360 only.
Sorry but you can't split screen the thing. It takes two machines with two seprate accounts to do something similar to what you're proposing. You can't run two instances of the game on one PC nor can you do so on one Xbox360. The gave is over 4+ years old if you count when it came out in Japan.
You can play together if you pay $12.95 a month times two for seprate accounts but you can't play on the same machine at the same time..Shadowneko's FFXI Newbie Guide 2009

Re: For Xbox 360 only.
Your brother already has a 360? Depending on your memorization of UI and your insanity I would check if the TV has screen in screen. I have a friend that has screen in screen that can actually split the screen in half with a football game on either side. I be you probably could do the same with 2 X360s on 2 Auxs.
Getting it to run on single PC with multiple screens has to be doable. I just wouldnt go bragging to a GM about it.Midgard:

Re: For Xbox 360 only.
I don't know of a way to split the Xbox FFXI version to two screens or if it can even have two instances running; I think that would require some special program designed to do that and have it installed on the Xbox. I know that Xbox requires the disc to be in when you run FFXI, so I'm not sure something like that could even be made, but I don't know what all it reads off the disc while the game is running.
PC can easily run two instances of FFXI, but I think you'd run into problems with controls for both screens (can share a screen too if you don't mind sitting close to your brother while playing). I know when I dual boxed if I wanted to control the other screen I had to alt tab back and forth. I'm sure however you could hook up two keyboards and two mouses and somehow have them binded or hooked or whatever they call it to the two seperate instances. That however I don't know how to do.
All that of course requires two seperate POL accounts, which I assume you know and you and your brother already have that. If I understand your question correctly then you want to only take the Xbox 360 to your parents house, and have your brother run two instances of FFXI on his PC? Not sure if that's what you meant though. But as far as I konw you can't run two instances on Xbox, you can on PC, but they share controls.
EDIT: One thing I noticed on dual-boxing; the FPS is acceptable when displaying both on the computer monitor (depending on system of course) but when I would try to extend the desktop to my TV and drag the screen over there, the FPS sucked (somewhere around 4 FPS was what I was getting). I used just a straight S-connection to connect TV to PC, perhaps another form of connection would yield better results.
