I've been gone for a little more than a year and I was wondering what kinds of changes have been made to traveling around the world. This is a list of what I know of:

    Airships between Wind/Bastok/San'd and Jeuno.
    Airship between Khazam and Jeuno.
    Ship between dunes and b.peninsula.
    Ship from b.peninsula to Whitegate.
Teleport Mea, Dem, that one near San'd, Vahzl, Altepa, and Yhaotor.
A ring on a 20 hour cooldown to teleport to Wajoam Woodlands (I think).

As far as I know there's no quick way to get from Whitegate to Jeuno. There's also no quick, repeatable way to get to Whitegate.

When I left there were Outpost warps but I can't recall how they worked and they never seemed very good anyway.

    Re: Transportation

Outpost Warps were made better, you can warp to and from outpost posts now from the corresponding NPC in your starter nation. There were quests added to let you teleport from the 3 starter nations to Whitegate, and if you forget there is a Warp Taru that let's you teleport from Whitegate to Jeuno for an Imperial Silver Piece(or free if you use the Free Warp Taru, but don't ever use the free one). Honestly I feel as if Airships are worthless now. Unless I needed to go to Sandy or Windhurst and wanted to afk a bit I wouldn't take one.

      Re: Transportation

After getting to all the Maws in WotG, and doing a few easy tasks to get Campaign Notes (CP for expansion), getting around is very easy. You can get from city to city real quick like. Yeah, Jeuno and it's airships are pretty much pointless now.

        Re: Transportation

I know there is a moogle in each of the 3 main cities now, which will let you warp between them in an instant (so if for e.g. you're in Sandy, you can use the moogle there to warp across to either Windy or Bastok, and the same for all 3 too) whenever you need to.

I don't know why, but I was under the impression that these warp moogles are only there for a short time, but I'm probably wrong anyway. I think they're a very nice additional idea cooked up by SE though. Very handy indeed!

But if you were in one of those 3 main cities, and just wanted to get to Jeuno instead, then maybe go onto Kazham or Qufim Island too..... regardless, I think the airship would still be useful for this purpose, unless there is another warp quest to get to Jeuno from a main city, or something similar to that. (for which there probably is. In which case it's not something I've got round to doing yet, so I will look it up a bit later) The only other option of course, is the use of BLM warp if you've set your home point in Jeuno for some reason. (which I sometimes find the need to do)

Other than that..... well I can't think of anything else beyond that.
I guess that the airships are probably next to useless anyway, what with other things that have been added to the game overtime.

It's all just great stuff really!

There are Tarutarus in Whitegate and Al Zhabi that can warp you. The one in Whitegate will charge you 1 Imperial Silver piece to warp you to Jeuno. After a few uses he will also give you the option of warping you to your home nation. The one in Al Zhabi will warp you for free to Jeuno or close by (or not so close by if you don't have the Astral Candescence).

There are also NPCs in each of the 3 starting cities who will warp you to Whitegate for 300 gil after completing the Lure of the Wildcat quests.

Just to note, if you use the Taru in Al Zhabi (free warp) to get to Jeuno and then decide you don't want to take the chance of being warped outside of the city next time, you can NOT use the Whitegate Taru (the one you pay a silver imperial coin to) until after JP midnight (real time). The Whitegate Taru will be insulted that you used the free warp Taru and will refuse to warp you. So basically don't try to use both of them in the same day. This sucks if you used the free warp Taru and he happens to get captured the same day and you need to get to Jeuno.

That is only available to the winner of the Crystal War Revisted event, (I think) which is Sandy. I know that's who won on Remora and pan-server, but I'm not sure if they go by each server's winner or pan-server.

You guys also are underestimating the power of the OP warp. I have all OPs except Ronfaure, so I set my HP in Bastok. From Bastok, I can OP almost anywhere, warp back and OP somewhere else. Level requirements for OPs have dropped, so there's now more of a reason to get all of them. Going to party in the dunes? OP Zulkhiem! EXP in Qufim? OP Qufim Island! I will even change to WHM, port my party, warp, job change, and OP out to EXP. Somebody die while partying in Qufim? OP home, job change to raise, OP out.

I say the heck with Airships most of the time, because I can OP to Saruta, and I have Tele-Holla for Sandy. Heck, if I'm going to Jeuno, I usually just OP Qufim and Flee to Jeuno.

Other transportation methods that come to mind:
Ducal Guard Ring (5 charges) to Jeuno - CoP
Tavnazian Ring (unlimited/24 hr recharge) to Tav Safehold - CoP
Maat's Cap (unlimted/24 hr recharge) to Jeuno - long time
Teleport Rings (like 10 charges or something) - BCNM, pretty cheap on AH

                Re: Transportation

I have to say I love having the Ronfaure and Sarutabaruta outposts, this is one of the main reasons I won't ever consider changing Kumei's national affiliation. Outpost teleportation has become more useful due to changes made at the same time as the Bastok/Sandy/Windy > Whitegate teleports were implemented. The minor change is that the fee for teleporting to/from a foreign-controlled (or to a beastmen-controlled) region is now only 3 times the base fee rather than 4 times. The major change is that the minimum level for each region's teleport has been lowered by 10 (and as the base fee is 10 times the level, that means the base fee has been lowered by 100 as well). This means, for instance, that you can teleport to the outpost in Valkurm Dunes from level 10 on, making it suitable for getting to/from xp camps. Similarly, Qufim's outpost can be used from level 15 on. Also, the fees are a more affordable 100/300 and 150/450 instead of 200/800 and 250/1000.

The ability to teleport from the cities to AU eliminates the need to keep one's Home Point in Whitegate at all times. This has been immensely useful. As my home point is usually in my home nation, I don't need Kaduru-Haiduru's extra services, so I take advantage of Shihu-Danhu most of the time I need to get to Jeuno from AU.

Finally, WotG adds teleportation to any non-dungeon zone currently implemented. As long as you participate in Campaign in some way, you'll be able to traverse the map fairly quickly. There are a few limitations worth noting here, though:
                1) Maws and Teleport locations aren't always that close -- the teleport site for North Gustaberg [S] is in the southwest part of the map, the maw is on the eastern side of Zegham Hill. Similar issues exist for Meriphataud Mountains [S], Sauromugue Champaign [S]*, Pashhow Marshlands [S], East Ronfaure [S], Jugner Forest [S]**, and Batallia Downs [S]*
                2) Certain core present zones have no analogue in past zones: La Theine Plateau, Konschtat Highlands, Valkurm Dunes, Tahrongi Canyon, Buburimu Peninsula, South Gustaberg, East Sarutabaruta, West Ronfaure
                3) Maw locations aren't always that convenient (or may only be convenient for a few things) in present zones. The Jugner Forest maw is virtually useless for any purpose besides continuing a journey-in-progress to San d'Oria. Similar complaints can be leveled at Meriphataud Mountains and Pashhow Marshlands, though Pashhow holds some merit in being the easiest way into the past from a crag teleport, IMO. Sauromugue Champaign's maw serves to ease the requirements for THF AF2, stone monument quest, and Garlaige coffer-hunting, but isn't suitable for actually entering the past.

                * I do not recommend using these maws for most purposes; it is usually easiest to simply zone into Rolanberry Fields[S] and use the maw there.

** If you want to get to this maw, don't teleport to Jugner Forest, teleport to Vunkerl Inlet; it will get you much closer to the part of Jugner you need to be in to reach it.

All that said, if your goal is getting to Jeuno, Rolanberry Fields [S] is quite handy. If you want Windurst, West Sarutabaruta [S] will do quite nicely. East Ronfaure [S] and North Gustaberg [S] are considerably less convenient, but much better than two consecutive airship rides.

That said, nothing quite beats the airships for cheap transportation. You can actually *make* money riding the airship to Jeuno (Quest: A Discerning Eye, 300 net gil for one trip). If you've got the time...

Good point, I did mean to add that but forgot to.

I love OP warps too. Nice fast way to get from Windy to Sandy. Still don't have gustaberg though so if I'm going there I usually Tele-dem, run to the mines and into Movopolis (SP?) then escape into Gusataberg.

With OPs and Aht Ahghan teles so handy it pays to have you're HP in your home nation now.

The funny thing is, I've played this game for approx. 5 years and it wasn't until about 6 months ago that I did OP's. I'm a pretty patient person so I always used other ways to get around and didn't mind too much. A very sweet ls friend recently gave me the gil to get the sky warp quest done in fact and that one is VERY VERY handy indeed!! ^^

You think that's bad? I recently switched nations and lost aaaaaall my OP warps. So when everyone is talking about OPing to all locations, I'm taking my chocobo from the crags.

LOL Yep, been there, done that Mog! I even forget sometimes to OP and I'll be on my chocobo and someone will say "God don't you have any OP's?". Damn old moldy brain!!

OP's are nice but still if I use my Li'Telor OP to get to sky, I still have a long walk ahead of me. (And no I am NOT getting into chocobo raising too! This game sucks up enough of my time! LOL) So sometimes it just feels like whats the difference if I walk or chocobo from Mea really? Also I think my OP's can be a bad thing....at least for me! I will know an event is at 7 and I know I have the OP so then I'll figure out how long it will take me and not log in until I absolutely have to cause I know I can get there quick. LOL That is so bad!
