Just got FFXI installed on my new PC today, but somehow i got alot lags in whitegate and AH which never happen in my old Win XP PC. My new PC is Intel Core 2 2.4GH with almost 3GB emmory(ram), 32- bit Vista operating system. I even try run the program in compatibity mode for Windows XP( SP2), but nothing has changed. I wonder is there anyone have the same problems with Vista, or know anyway to fix it? i really don't want to reinstall XP again.(take too much time to install Xp and all the dates)

Re: FFXI on Windows Vista help!
lag is almost always a problem with your network, not your OS.
If you mean your client slowing down, that is a completely different issue. It could be Vista, but with a PC that powerful I doubt it. Slowing down at AHs and in major cities is normal, it's usually because of FFXI's client, not your computer. Not much you can do really.
Out of curiosity, what graphics card does this computer have, and what did the old one have?

Re: FFXI on Windows Vista help!
I had the same problem, go back to XP its better trust me. I had Vista for a freakin year and it sucks!! It does make your comp lag more, and it also makes video games lag. I went back to XP a few months ago, and now everything is alot faster and smoother!
EDIT: I dont like Vista for alot of reasons, you have to have permission to do everything, including playing FFXI. On top of that you cant use Windows Areo while playing FFXI, or it will lag like hell. Second of all, it lags alot anyway even without Windows Areo, or Windows sidebar on. I also had the same system that you do. I got tired of having to deal with these issues, and games always lagging. So, I just went back to XP. But, thats just me, you might like it, and if you do stick with it. Also, if you do find a way to fix it let me know, because I have tried everything."I'm lost without you, without you I am lost."

Re: FFXI on Windows Vista help!
I read somewhere(maybe it was wikipedia so don't trust this too much) that certian apps actually run slower on Vista vs XP. I don't know about FFXI but I really do not want Vista myself due to all the troubles I keep hearing about...Shadowneko's FFXI Newbie Guide 2009

Re: FFXI on Windows Vista help!
Listen to Mhurron, last I heard GeForce 8 drivers are still having the kinks worked out of them, but I imagine the FFXI specific drivers work much better.
I think Vista works fine, if you buy more memory, and upgrade it with better shit.
