  • Re: Common mobs with odd properties

Nah, the only intimidates I've ever witnessed were against Hpemdes specifically, and Vy pulled up a good thought that slipped my mind: they could be classified as having Demon as a sub-type, but then that would mean that Lumorian mobs would be dual-racial creatures?!? o.O? /huh

No, I think it's mostly that they're DRG/something mobs, or even perhaps Something/DRG, I'm not sure, but if the models for mob abilities based on jobs holds true, and that each creature only has one creature type (as indicated by what they are to begin with), then it'd be safe to assume that DRG was in there somewhere in the mix.

There's no other mob in the entire game that has two races, is there? That's essentially what a Hpemde being a demon would be if that were the case here. SE classifies them as Luminions (as opposed to Luminians, to which the only discernable difference I can see being that one set are "organic", and the other set "mechanical" in nature, but that's another discussion for later). With SE giving them that classification, that is setting Luminion as their race, meaning Demon cannot possibly be it, since Demon is a race of creatures in its own right. However, to test this, I could throw a Samurai at it, but come to think of it, not once have I ever seen any of my Samurai friends ever intimidate the things. Hmmmm...

        Bump.

So I was looking into Puks the other day (because, being 75, I'm finally able to solo one,) specifically to look into FFXIClopedia's claim that they have Regain on Windsday and Lightsday. I mean, FFXIClopedia usually doesn't get obscure details like this right, so I really felt compelled to check. I held a Wajaom Woodlands Puk for 5 minutes sitting at 80-90 TP on both Windsday and Lightsday (not letting it damage me of course) and nothing!

Anyone know what's up with that? I was thinking that either they only have Regain during Wind/Light weather and not the days, or that only Mamook/Beseiged Puks have Regain (much like Wajaom Puks don't have Ill Wind.)

Or, just my speculation, people confuse this with the fact that Puk gains 100% TP with matching-day spell casted on them?

It's possible, but I don't think so. FFXIClopedia is being specific about it being during Wind/Light day/weather. If they were confusing Regain with their TP bonus, it's too odd that they'd only notice it 2/8 days of the week.

I think it is weather based to be honest, I have fought lots of puks (for some reason their drops sell decently to NPC's) and never noticed any specific regen on a day to day basis. To be perfectly honest I can not recall any specific weather related activity either. I do know they heal up with the wind spells but to be honest i think that's as far as they go.
