Basicly I play a old PS2 copy and I rarely use my ID on my PC(and I haven't logged into POL plus or the LS community in months...and I changed my password since i last did anything FFXI on my machine). I think I'm safe since I only had it on my PC for abit and then uninistalled it and went back to playing on consoles.

It seems to be safe you can't get your ID anywhere near a PC anymore and I'm wondering how long it will be before one of these idots tries to attack Playonline proper. I mean I thought we were mostly rid of RMTs...but now they are stealing? it's just wrong...

Diminishing returns form the normal forms of RMT cause RMT organizations to migrate to out-of-game methods of income such as hack-and-rob. They don't care if you get your account back as long as they can launder your assets and make money off of them.

Anyway. I will always remember that scene from the movie that was sorta about Bill Gates and that guy from Cruel Intentions. The one where they beat up his friend with a bat or something so they could steal his work. I wish that I could bust in houses with bats and beat up some people who create and put out these viruses.

In all cases it seems attacks come from ads like the ones you see on FFXIAH and Somepage (Alla used to have those too back when I used it, don't if still does) and Mystery tour used to have the same kind of ads.

Which is why I don't access any site with that kind of ads from my main computer, although someone hacking a site like DiV and spreading some worms is always a possibility.

Guess the only think you can do is have the best spyware protection you can and hope for the best.

I was only using somepage as an example of the type of banner I was talking about though.

The real player ActiveX thing is something different since they aparently "hacked" the site (something that can happen to DiV too).

Actually, PiNG once told me that the site makes about enough money a day to buy himself a hamburger. Compared to the cost of hosting, it's mostly out of his own pocket and awesomeness.

I think it would be much better if we logged off and went to buy crap for him. But then, I lost my wallet.

Just use Firefox, it will stop near 100% of all the things hackers use to get your password on it's own.

IE is for people who want to be hacked.
