  • PS2 Hdd

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone know if you can install ffxi on an unoffical hdd for ps2? I was thinking of buying and installing ffxi on my ps2 as a backup for my pc. I allready have a hdd in it, but since i live in europe it's not the sony hdd. the ps2 is modified so region coding shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think that they make the HDD drive for the ps2 anymore, or the games for that matter sorry!

He doesn't mean the HDD that Sony released several years ago. He means a third-party HDD.

If you already have a working HDD in the PS2 I don't see why you couldn't. The only problem i foresee is finding the software. In the US they only released the core game bundled with the HDD.

They also released CoP, Also I knew what he ment, but I still dont think that they sell the software to download it to the HDD.

I have not heard of the possibility of downloading it for PS2 so the only option would be to find it on disc. If you can, good job! I almost waited to long to get CoP for PS2 and had to search my local area for days to find a copy. I suppose I could of ordered it off the internet but didn't want to wait for the mail service. >.< Turns out i could of ordered it and got it in about the same time I spent searching for it.

When I ment download I ment download from the disc, not online. Stop being so literal people. Also when I got CoP for my ps2 awhile ago, they had like 50 copys of it lol. But I am just glad that I have it for the PC now. I havent played yet, I have just had it for about 2-3 years. But, I would just try looking for it, they might have them on Ebay or something.

what is missed to communicate in my first post is, do i need something else then the ffxi software to install it on a hdd? i think i have seen something like a sony software for the hdd or something in other post in the past.

regarding getting hold of the software, didn't they release a vanadiel collection for the ps2 now with wotg?

I have that software but have never used it being the HDD was formatted when I opened the package. I think it was used to format in case of a crash (can't imagine a PS2 doing this) and the program ends up with errors in it.

You may be able to use the same trick I heard being in use when the PC version of WotG was delayed. People would buy a keycode (xbox, ps2), then download an iso of the expansion for pc and install it that way. Since you have FFXI on PC already perhaps you could just find the iso you need and use your current keycodes. Finding the iso will be the trick though.

Can't just stick in a hard drive--need the "network adapter" for PS2 as well. There's actually no (normal?) IDE connector in PS2; the hard drive actually attaches to the network adapter instead.

The network adapter cannot be used with the slim PS2--not that there's room in the slim PS2 for the hard drive, either.

Can you just burn a CD-R and use that in PS2? I thought the PS2 had to be modified before it'd read (non-music?) data off of CD-R.
