        Re: new leveling areas!!

In west saratabuta-s I was fighting Savanna Rarab's with my 15 DNC and dinged 16 after 2 hour solo exping. to me at 15 they were working out as DC (lower) to EM higher) which to me works out at lvl 12-15. They hit alot harder than their equivilnents in the present. the little mandys (Tiny Lycopodium) were around lvl 10-12.

Crawlers registered VT high defense to my lvl 15 so i would say they are around lvl 18+ and carrion crows were IT+ so I think there around lvl 20+. None agro.

If you fight mobs around the gate to Windhurst-s and to the south of the map to the area of the MAW, I did not see any higher level mobs that could agro. So this could be a new dunes area for exp.

The only downside to lvling in the past is that your signet only gives you exp (no conquest points) and when resting your TP does reduce. Though in 3800exp of lvling I did not have to rest once thanks to curing waltz. Fighting rarabs with exp ring solo I was getting between 75 and 108 exp a mob solo, 50-67 on mandys.

          Re: new leveling areas!!

Ok, I did get around to farming some Djinn Ash this weekend, and I can confirm about what makes them blow up.

Elemental magic damage that matches the current day of the week or the element that is strong to the current day will cause them to use Nocturnal Combustion.

I went as RDM/BLM to Vunkerl Inlet, and took on the DC ones there. I would pull with Gravity, Bind, then stand at max casting distance and use tier 1 nukes. It usually took 2 nukes to get it to blow up, and they will not use the WS if you are out of range. After the 2nd nuke you have to run in close enough for them to start using it, then back out of range before it goes off. If done correctly, it will say 'No valid target in area of effect.' and they will drop dead. I highly recommend having nothing targeted when you go to run in, when they start to use the skill they will target you, so you know when to GTFO.

When I first went it was Lightningsday, Thunder and Stone both worked to trigger the explosion, however none of the other elements did. Drain and Aspir worked on Darksday, I'm assuming Banish would've worked on Lightsday if I was /WHM. Those spells may be interchangeable on both days, but I'm not sure on that.

I did get 1-shotted a few times, but if you are in the NW area there is often times a Sprite hanging around, I got a couple of R3's from them. I'm going to try /THF next time b/c the Djinn Ash drop rate wasn't very good, although the Djinn Ash recipe for Firesand yields quadruple output compared to the normal Bomb Ash one(ffxiclo has incorrect yield info, 1 Djinn Ash + 1 Sulfur = 4 Firesand NQ, I'll correct for them once I've exploited it for gil a bit :D)

The XP wasn't much since they were lower DCs, but for a high 60's SMN or BLM/RDM I think there may be a fantastic solo XP potential on these. Bring RR though, b/c if Nocturnal Combustion goes off before you get out of range, there's a very good chance you're going to die. I survived 3 of 6 explosions that hit me as 75RDM/BLM, one of them just barely, but I also had Shell IV up and RDM's MDB trait.

Damnit all i knew this would happen someday... Someone else would find this thread and figure out that you can do this stuff ><
To clarify, it is excellent exp potential, i'm doing bst 66-67 on these babies, makin 10k an hour solo. You can do this with summoner's avatar pets too, just as long as you're lucky enough that they don't die on you before they get 100%tp, cuz that's what they need to blow up...

I really really really really hope no one steals the ONE good spot in the area i train in until i at least get another lvl or two off of it... and no, you can' do this with lvl 60 bst or 60 summoner solo, you'll die... i've been testing for a good lvl now.

              Re: new leveling areas!!

I don't think they need 100% TP, because I was getting them to blow up in 2 nukes, which couldn't have fed more than 10-20%.

Add--Post-Lunch rant: ffxiclopedia isn't always the answer, folks. Before you plop down a wiki link and say case closed, read the thread and see if it answers the question at hand, this has been going on too much lately.

                    Re: new leveling areas!!

i don't know about your experience, but i had to throw a pet at it, let it get a little tp, and wait to cast. If i didn't, it wouldn't explode... just try not to tell all you friends about this >< this type of lvling really only works for summoner and bst, maybe rdm if you're lucky to get gravity and bind to stick at a high lvl. For lvling purposes, summoner is fine if your avatar doesn't die before you cast the element of the day, and bst is always fine if you have a right pet to keep hate for that one spell you cast... doesn't matter if the pet dies or not afterward, just as long as the bomb blows up.

In all seriousness, there's only a few spots to lvl like this for lvl 65-67 people solo, if that... so please... don't leak it too much! i don't want people fighting over the area...
If i could, i'd destroy this whole damn thread too.

                      Re: new leveling areas!!

Haha, don't worry about that, like I said I don't use this for XP, but the Djinn Ash may be a ticket to some reasonable income for awhile, so I'm not going to go singing about it. From what I've seen they don't need 100 TP, but it always took me 2-3 nukes to get them to blow. When I got blown up the first time I ever fought one I was using a Joyeuse, so I likely got a double swing proc which led it to exlode on me after the first attack round.

And yeah, I probably can't recommend it for something other than a SMN or BST, b/c the explosion is very, very likely to one shot you if you're too close, and it leaves you with maybe 2 seconds tops to get out of range.
                      ------------------------------------------
Oh yeah, meant to add: The ones in Jugner are supposed to be 2-3 levels higher than Vunkerl, but not sure how plentiful they are. GL w/ BST^^

hm... how can the Djinn ash be profitable? does it synth the same way into firesand as other ashes? i have like 2 stacks of them but no one's buyin them on the ah yet ; ;... i wonder how i'll get them sold.

And thank you for not spreading it too much ^^ In Vunkler inlet there's like one place where two people MAYBE could solo and that's about it, everywhere else is too dangerous. I still need to check out jugner spots however... since they have the highest lvl djinn.

                            You remember correctly.

Sigil is a hybrid of Sanction and Signet, here's how it works:
                            • You keep TP while resting.
                            • You can puchase and stack ALL the Sanction buffs for 50 Allied Notes per buff.
                            • You earn no Allied Notes for gaining EXP.
                            • There is not a sizable EXP buff like Sanction and you must participate in Campaign Ops and rank up to obtain EXP buffs, amoung others. However, like Signet, there is a small boost to EXP for being in a group of less than six and more than one.
                            • There are additional benefits if your nation grabs noteworthy Freelancers, but they are unknown at this time.

the "djinn bug" has apparently been fixed... they don't seem to blow up on command anymore. Can anyone help me confirm this? I died trying last time ><
