      Re: New job Quests

      Sheet of vellum
High-quality parchment made from sheepskin. This particular piece features a decorative border.

Gives no idea on where to get 12 pieces of it, and FFXI AH still lists nothing.

      EDIT

On Lakshmi, there's a PC selling Vellum for 3k each standing on a hill near the zone. 36k for a stack isn't really that unreasonable.

        (Scholar)
So far its in Eldieme S ( in the past ) at the location where u do escort quests.
You need 12 sheets of vellum and be on blm or rdm.
It requiries u to activate manafont or chainspell to continue at some point.
You need 12 sheets of vellum.... made by:

        1x dark crystal
        1x sheep leather
        1x rolanberry
        1x pinch of gold dust
have someone with 50ish goldsmithing make it - wind crystal+ brass ingot + copper ingot. how you get gold dust out of brass and copper? but i'm not complaining

Stacks of Vellum are going for 52k on Midgard.

Use a maw around Jeuno and then go to the Roland of the past. The entrance you need is the one that is to the left of Jeuno behind the bones. (Entrance to the necropolis.) Go in and right down the hall will be a T.K. and the npc will be right there. The npc won't be there if the T.K. has a sword by its name though. You'll also see mobs/npcs randomly spawn and run down the hallways. lol Be on blm or rdm cause you need to do eithers 2hr ability to become a scholar. And don't forget your stack of vellum.

Edit: lol too slow of a typer!

IRL vellum is another word for parchment. Maybe a translation issue?

              Re: New job Quests

There appears to be some sort of trick with going back and forth.

I entered from Batalia Downs, and it dropped mein Rolanberry Fields [S]. Did what I need, started SCH, and Warp'd out.

Changed to RDM, got some gil off my mule, headed back and unlocked DNC. (Took about 5 minutes to show up in my jobs list, btw.) Got a chicken, headed out to the same Maw I hit originally and it said "Nothing happens." I'm trying the Rolanberry Fields Maw now, but I think it requires a walk through the Nest. /sigh

              EDIT

              Figured something out.

Upon my CS from my first Maw experience, I got a key item. I believe each key item is keyed to the Maw you exit from, and corresponds with a Maw in the present. So, this may work out much like OP Warps in that you have to get all the key items in order to use all the Maws.

                Re: New job Quests

I entered at the Rolanberry maw. I spawned by Saur. Champ. maw. I explored and then warped out. When I wanted to go back, I could not enter at the Rolanberry maw or any other maw except the Saur. Champ. maw....which I had to trek through the Citadel to reach. So I went back into the past through the Saur. Champ. maw and then went to the Rolanberry maw in the past and used it to get back to normal time. Now I can use the Rolanberry maw to enter the past again.

                  Re: New job Quests

I think each one of the Maws is going to be like an OP Warp. You'll need the key item to use them. That's going to be fun. I have the item for the Rolanberry Field's maw, but when I used it, it just sent me back to Rolanberry Field's and I got no Key item. I'll have to get through the Gate Break in the Shitadel and get that checked out.

Any idea about the "Campaign" mobs. I saw some earlier during the battle like music, and then they Warped out. But the music is still playing. I just wanted to unlock the two jobs so I could help my LS out with it when they all finally get it.

Does the dancer quest start or at some point take place in present time? Just curious about why I see lots of people gathering around the dancers in Upper Jeuno.

Because that's where it starts. As I mentioned earlier, you talk to the female Hume Dancer in Upper Jeuno, talk to the Mithra next to here. Talk a guy behind the bar in the Tavern in S. Sandy. Back to the Mithra, Jugner Forest of the past to get your key item, then head back to the Hume Dancer in the present.

Scholar Quest takes place entirely in the past though. Need 12 pieces of Vellum, which a guy in the Crawlers' Nest [S] will give you. 12 Rolanberries for 1 Vellum. Considering you can buy Rolanberries for 120g a pop in Jeuno, and Vellum is 100k a stack on Lakshmi, you'll save gil. You also need to be RDM or BLM main to get Scholar. Must 2hr with either one of those, to get your final cut.

                        Re: New job Quests

You can only use the Maw that you got spitted out from the past to the present.

                        Example:
If you got spitted out in Rol. Fields, you have to use that one to enter the past.

To access the other maws in the present, you'll have to exit them from the past.

                            Re: New job Quests

                            According to wiki....

                            Walkthrough

                            1. Go to Batallia Downs at (H-5) and click on the Cavernous Maw to go to the past.
From Batallia Downs [S] go to (J-10) enter The Eldieme Necropolis [S].
If the campaign is going on at the time orcs must be cleared till the flood attacks the scholars will come to the rescue. Keep them alive. Erlene will not apear till the battle is complete or clears.

                            2. In The Eldieme Necropolis [S], talk to the NPC named Erlene. During the CS she will ask for 12 sheets of Vellum.

                            3. Optional Trade up to 12 stacks of Rolanberry to Tucker (K-8) in Crawlers' Nest [S] for sheets of Vellum. Each stack you trade will get you one sheet of Vellum.

                            4. Trade 12 sheets of Vellum to Erlene for another CS, she will mention the forms of magic both Black and White Magic.
Chainspell or Manafont is required to complete this as mentioned in the cutscene. Use your 2 hour and click on Erlene again to complete the quest.
Benediction can not be used for this since it does not have a substained energy flow.

so 12 stacks of rollanbery's will get you 12 vellum. question is does the jeuno vender have limited stock? and also rolenberys will go up in price in the AH. All NPC's involved are in the past so crawlers nest may be nasty to a non 75, maybe sneak and invis may prevent agro?

The Rolanberry vendor in port is a normal non-guild vendor with an infinite stock and fixed prices.

And now it makes sense why it has to be Chainspell or Manafont. The game's checking for a 2-hour effect present on you.

Well then the hardest part is to talk to the 2 NPC's without agro and death. and be RDM or BLM to finish quest with 2 hour.
