I fish with the touchpad on my laptop. I know a lot of people don't like the touchpad, but I've gotten along with it and now it's easy for me to use.

When fishing with my controller, I switch modes (swap left analog pad w/ D-pad) to get better control. But you really should switch to Compact keyboard mode under Config->Misc 2. When you select it, you'll get a small window showing what the key mappings are for compact, things like F works like the keypad's +, - works like keypad's -, H works like the keypad's *, I think I, J, K, and L are movement controls. For typing, / will open up the window for typing commands, but if you want to type to the current chat mode, just press space first.Kumei, pickpocket of Midgardsormr(Bastok Rank 10)
