Well lads, I managed to get WotG registered. On top of that, I re-activated my two content ids. I thought it was supposed to be down. Since apparently it's not, it's probably another possibly small reason for clogged registration servers. Goes to prove that SE lies. ~_~

SE never said the servers where down, other people started saying that, there is not one SE announcement that said it was down. They said things like "due to server congestion" and "hardware difficulties due to congestion" but they never said the servers were down.

Actually on Thursday, the reg servers were down. SE brought them back up, and kinda hoped for the best. It seems people are starting to get through, I managed to get registered yesterday.

For the people that are still unregistered, SE is bringing down the registration servers for "Emergency maintenance" spanning from 2:00 till 4:00 PDT. Luckily, I somehow got into the registration servers and registered my copy of WoG. It only took 4 hours of endless clicking. Thanks a lot, SE.

Seriously though, for a MMoG this size, the level of service they provide is really piss poor. SoE has a fraction of the subscribers of FFXI from all their games combined and they run a much better service than S-E. Things the rest of the gaming world take for granted like being able to download the game online or actually register an expansion you've already purchased.

Duh, what part of "congestion" don't you understand? Having more players makes it WORSE, not better.
Since I've been trying to get claim on the reg server for 12 hours now, I do kinda wish they had anticipated the traffic a little better and rented a Cray or something. But comparing them to a game with less players and saying "well, THEY don't have any congestion problems!" is just idiotic. If you're that determined to bitch about something, there are much better reasons available.

Ok, the point that obviously eluded you, was that if SOE can provide a stable service with less resources maybe it's time S-E re-invested some of the multi-millions it has gained from FFXI so far into obtaining more, and substantially dependable, servers. I could have easily used WoW as another example citing the complete lack of problems with up to 10 million people registering when the last expansion launched. Fact is, S-E need to step out of the 20th century, stop being greedy bastards, and deliver a 21st century service to their paying customers.
