    Well i am a little disapointed but I am not the one to play a job to set record damage. I am more in this game for fun. Dont get me wrong I love sporting some of the best equipment i can get my hands on, however its more important to have fun. The one person who will remember the damage you do is yourself and thats pretty much it. In the defense of the people who use 2h weapons, it was nice to see something other than dual wielding axes. Monk is a different story, wheres my strap..... i dont deserve a stun strap or a counter + or even some extra str? I have done my best to make my monk self sufficiant, to me serviving is more important. you can give any 75 mnk haste and a wahlra turban and he'll do ok, watch them continue to stand while they are pulling hate now thats the tough part. Everyone talks about getting nerfed, how about something different for monk for a change instead of trying to dumb down our unique ability to tear it the F(_)<|< up. I'd rather get nerfed and something new than nothing new at all.

      Early reports from the melees in my HNMLS indicated their damage was lower, but not nearly as low as it was before the first 2h update. I wasn't on long enough to do any explicit testing, but will try and find some time soon (of course, there's Wings of the Goddess... and Unreal Tournament 3... and Rock Band.... all fighting for my spare time right now).

        SE gets very little right on there first try. When the "Fix" things they tend to break things at the same time. From what I can tell they tend to change to many things at one time without thinking about how they will affect one another. As for blm in exp the main problem I see is the fact that merit mobs don't have enough hp to worry with setting up a sc. This isn't even counting the fact colibri are not the best mob to kill with a blm.

            Merited last night as SAM.

            Odude - SAM Lv.3 Overwhelm 5/8 Great Katana Merits are the only "important" merits
            Hauby, Hagun, Elvaan STR+66

            Camp outside Nashmau Vs. VT-- Imps & VT+ to IT Elder Treants 4 SAM, 2 Mages, no BRD.

            Usually get in this party with one SAM who always builds the party. He has Lv.3 Overwhelm and cap'd STR Merits. Previously he and I would both do 1100 average WS. He likes Yuki so he opens, I'm more partial to Kasha so depending on who has TP in time I'd link Gekko or close Kasha.

            Now, nor he or I have all the flashy end game stuff. We're strictly what some elite idiots call, Auction House SAMs, but we complete quite nicely by staying in that 1100 range. (1100 for Gekko 1200 for Kasha)

            Last night we saw about a 300dmg reduction in our Gekko damage, and about 500dmg reduction in Kasha damage. We did have a few that were in the low 1ks, and I had a 1300 and 1500 out of the blue once, but averages were 850~950 for Gekko, and Kasha was in the 725~775 range. Previously, I liked Kasha because I could amp the damage up more, but now Kasha is under Yuki as far as damage goes.

            Skillchain damage appears to have gotten worse. Previously, at the same camp doing Yuki > Gekko > Kasha we'd get quite a bit of unresisted 1.5 modified Light effects. In two and half hours last night, we got NONE. I know the Skillchain damage update wasn't added, but it doesn't appear to be the same as it was on Sunday either.

            DPS damage appeared to be close enough to the norm for me. It was reduced, but it wasn't that bad, but as a SAM in a Meripo, that just has to be 1dmg or higher to build TP.

            I went through and read that BG thread, and those saying this is just a difference between gimp SAMs and uber SAMs are idiots. I'm not uber, but I'm far from gimp. I know a number of pretty pimp'd SAMs and I've partied with them or done Dynamis with them. There is a difference in WS damage, but I kept up and stayed in range. I'll try a Puk & Great Colibri party tonight sometime to see how things are against much weaker mobs.

              You mentioned earlier that you used the Soboro in merit point parties, what weapon did you use before the patch? Is this Hagun vs Hagun damage or Soboro vs Hagun damage?

                I only use my Soboro in solo or if I'm tanking. Last night, 3 of the 4 SAMs were Hagun, and one was Soboro. I've yet to test out Soboro damage after this change. If I do go Soboro I only Yuki and Gekko. They average about 500 damage a pop, but in some fights I can drop 3 of them so it adds up.

                The highly merited SAM I mentioned doesn't have a Soboro.

                    Seriously? I read a report from a RNG who said they merited with a DRG today and the DRG was keeping up just fine in damage. As in just shy of RNG's damage, and I don't think they included they wyvern's damage in that.

                      I can't even get online to see for myself because POL and my internet in general are being bitches lately. Every time I get past the checking stage of the update it gives me some network busy bull shit.

                      EDIT: It's not surprising really - _ - just SE's usual mentality of bandwagoners = mass nerfing, rather than addressing the exact problem (which apparently was SAM @ 75 with Overwhelm doing sick damage)

                        I'm not sure if I should be "Lol"ing at the people who're crying for their lost damage, or lashing out at the people who're saying "good riddance."

                        I think I'll do both.

                        BLMs: 2handers becoming damage beasts was the first step to seeing the return of skillchains and thus, a reason to have BLMs around. Grats. If the sky hath fallen, you're living on the same doomed planet and you're as fucked as ever.

                          I just think it's a really nasty tease on SE's part. If SAM was the major concern, why not just nerf Y/G/K or something?

                          - . - I was really enjoying the 1:1 ratio for STR and DEX. Finally, I was able to have fun on WAR again and not have to /NIN and spampage... it has nothing to do with "AH/Walmart <job>" and more with feeling bad ass for holding a 2 handed weapon.

                            Every job has gone through this sort of thing at some point or other. Every. Single. Job. Be glad it wasn't as bad as the RNG nerf - melees still seem perfectly functional in a party, if not quite so absurd as before.

                            Besides, wait for the other shoe to drop. Square-Enix have already commented that they're bringing skillchaining back, so your Samurai (and Soboro if you have it) won't stay in mothballs for long if I miss my guess.

                              Yeah, when I went to war to finish it, I found myself vaguely enjoying it for once. Which was nice. Thankfully I got sj level achieved beforehand, so that's done. With them improving the wyvern, it may balance all out for Dragoon.

                              Again, not a huge fraps'er, or someone who pays heavy attention to every point of damage and fluctuations, so I'm not overly bothered, I'm just hoping it isn't enough for people to go back to the old stigmas so far as party invites go.

                              But then again, poor Dragoon never got away from the stigmas, I don't think, so eh.

                              I think the sky's just fine though. I've not seen any pieces fall yet. :3

                                ugh, just got done testing the update out for myself (internet seems to have un-fucked itself for the moment) and I'm absolutely disgusted.

                                my WS were ranging between 249 and 660 on EP birds (with Soboro. 450-700 on Onimaru), a good 200-300 points lower than before... WTF? My DPS is more or less okay, but WS dmg is fucked up.

                                I'm seriously not happy about this @ all - . - Hagun has already dropped by 400k (likely due to bandwagoners [I hate them for the record] dropping out of SAM and back to WAR or MNK, possibly even RNG now)

                                I ain't pulling out my Soboro in merits ever again > _ >
