Treasure Hunter? How does it really work?

I just read in one of the forums how Treasure Hunter REALLY works... i didn't know it had special conditions! This is going to be the same feeling i had 5 lvls after i got Tame with bst that i figured out it can stop aggro from a monster...

Btw... just for opinion sake... can a pup with full healing equipment on their puppet heal properly in a party? How and why?

What do you want to know about, Treasure Hunter or PUP? Or BST? Also some clearer information about what it is exactly about TH that you're talking about would help ...

Thieves have the Treasure Hunter trait.

In order for you to activate Treasure Hunter as a Thief, you have to gain some enmity from an enemy, upon doing so, your drop rate will increase.

There are various means of gaining enmity from an enemy, attacking it, casting a spell on it, or using an ability on it. And lets not forget casting positive effect spells on allies that already have enmity from that enemy, or simply getting agroed.

Oh, don't forget to kill your enemy, but you don't have to be the one killing it as long as you have some enmity on that enemy by the time it dies, Treasure Hunter kicks in.

That's all there is to it. (I believe?)

Hit it? I thought you just have to gain enmity? If a THF/WHM cast Dia on the critter, wouldn't Treasure Hunter still come into play? Also, anything /THF would work as well, as long as "Treasure Hunter" is there.

Lastly, highest Treasure Hunter wins--more than one player with Treasure Hunter doesn't mean more treasure. (Supposedly.)

Which also meansif you only have 1 THF in your LS with TH4, the rest of the THF's just got a lot less appealing

It also means you don't need the THF to feed whatever it is any TP; Dia, Katon: Ichi, Cure I someone who already has enmity probably all work.

Wow i never knew that! So here's what I gather...
To activate Treasure Hunter you need a sort of Emnity.
If this is true, then that means if you had say, a lvl 30 or 45 thief friend just sitting in a zone and not doing anything while another person in their party, like a high lvl, was farming stuff, then that means that Treasure Hunter won't kick in and thus you'll receive the normal drop rate?

If this is also true... then that means if you're fighting two separate monsters, the Thief will only get the Treasure Hunter effect and not the other person in the party (this is 2 man party btw).

Also, this means that if you had two Thieves in the party fighting two different monsters the effect wouldn't stack.

So what about if they're both fighting the same monster, at the same lvl, with the same Treasure hunter skill?

And I'm a lvl 63 bst >< i figured out how to use the class by now

According to the quote, that is functionally equivalent to having one Thief at that level with enmity. Or forty thieves at that level with enmity.

Only one of the effects counts, if theyre both the same level, it still only counts once, there is no stacking of TH at all, ever.

Indeed it will. Hell, Steal is sort of a poor man's Provoke; it won't yank the mob's attention on you necessarily, but if you need to get the mob's attention yourself, I've found that Steal often provides an edge on this (I've had to fight for claim on a mob that I aggroed instead of pulled and then someone else tried to pull off of me).
