  • What's your dream mog house?

If you could have anything in your mog house and it be any way and could invite who knows how many people... what would it be like? Small and homey? Large like a mansion! Would you have a personal bar? Or a bachelor's pad?

Since we don't know what's going to happen in this new mog house update, i wanted to know what other people's "dream mog houses" were. I for one want to make something small, nice and homey, a place built in windurstian style with lots of plants. I want writing materials and a desk for it, and then a mini kitchen if i could make it.

Things like that... so what would you have? Be creative!!

I don't have a dream Mog House. In my dream, it's more like Chateau d'Oraguille.

Indeed, think Chateau d'Oraguille in Sanctuary of Zi'tah and that's my dream Mog House.

But I would add a moogle that actually did something to that request.

I actually created my dream mog house when I first started the game but sold/drop some of the furniture for practical reasons. I was a BLM at the time so It was a bachelor pad with a magician's twist.

          Furniture:

All Mannequinnes (All lined up on both sides the center carpet with each races gender facing each other doing a /hurry. Mithra and Galka doing the special posses facing the door)
          Royal Bed
          Mable Workbench
          Millionaire Desk
Magic Set (Next to the Millionaire Desk)
          Tea set (On Workbench)
          Silverware set (On Workbench)
3x TaruTaru stool (One next to the Millionaire Desk the other two infront of the fire place)
Waste Basket (Next to the Millionaire Desk)
          Flowerstand
Arcane Flower pot with herb seeds ready to harvest (On Flowerstand)
Something Bookshelf (It has 5 slots with fire element) (Next to the Millionaire Desk)
Chest (At foot of Royal Bed)
          Cupboard

Now I would like to have it about the size of the Inn in North San doria.
          Upstairs: Bedroom and Office
Downstairs: Beverage Bar and Storage room.

                  It's not the SIMS ><
But... is it not fun to still do role-playing stuff like that? I've heard plenty of people say they're getting bored with this game, so instead of lvling all the time and synthing, why not just hang back and have some fun? It's the equivalent of hanging out with someone almost, just they're across the world or in some different country rather than on your couch.

The ability to name my moogle. And assign him a personality. (I'd love it if he made snide remarks and made fun of me.)

Also, I wish I could sit down in chairs. I mean, I could do it in UO! You could actually go to a bar and sit down and drink and eat.

Re: What's your dream mog house?

One of the things I'm really hoping for in FFXI-2 is for an insanely large world (single shard, hopefully) where you can build houses almost anywhere. Of course, it would be more expensive to build houses in remote areas, and if you put your house in a dangerous area and didn't spend a lot of money defending it it could get destroyed. Mog houses in the cities would be apartments or hotels, while Nomad Moogles in training line the streets waiting to change anyone who doesn't want to stop at their housing.

A walk across Saruta could take an hour or two on foot, but there are manufactured Teleport Crystals throughout the landscape, and warping can be done by simply by using a scroll, and selecting your destination on the world map. Of course, even with manufactured crystals, you have to have touched it in order to be transported to it. People who manufacture scrolls sell them off like chefs sold off insect balls in the days of Rabao-- far below their skill level, but still insanely quick profit.

Once you find a place you would like to build your house, you can claim it with whatever country possesses the land that week, and once you are approved (which would depend on your standing in that country, how many people are already around, how big and where the house you are planning to build is, how many people in the Settlement Management Bureau you suck up to and bribe, and so on.) you can start building. You could build anything from a simple shack to a small fenced in area to a grand manor, depending on how much you're willing to pay.

Once you decide where and what to build, and you get approval from the SMB, you would start building. You could either choose to have your materials hauled out to you, or build from the local environment. Of course, if you go around chopping down a forest, the SMB isn't going to be happy with you. Either way, you're going to need a lot of help (NPC or otherwise) to gather the resources to where you're planning to build, and then calling in professionals to turn said materials and a blueprint into a house.

Of course, monsters might choose to attack your residence, so you will probably need to pay for guards for it, unless you want it to be taken over or destroyed. Smaller homes would simply be torn apart by beastmen, although in larger ones they could decide to make it a new base. Of course, if that happened, you would be charged and fined by the three nations for negligence and assisting the beastmen, not to mention losing your house (at least until you manage to reclaim it and make repairs)

You could use your house for plenty of things. If you could afford to buy a synthetic crystal, you could use it as a quick way to get to your favorite fishing spot. You could even charge other people to use it as a quick way to teleport. If you buy a larger house, you could use it as a meeting hall for your linkshell-- including allowing your LS members to move into rooms, as long as they agree to pay rent.

If you were a crafter, you could set your house up as a factory, an easy place for local HELMers to drop off their materials without running all the way back to town, and a place for you to do your magic. If you were a chocobo racer or trainer, you could reserve a large space of land, build a modest house and stable, and use the rest of the land to train your birds. Of course, you could sell your chocobos to interested parties if you wished.

If you were an entrepreneur, you could make a club. Of course, getting people to come out to a place in the middle of nowhere would take a lot of work making it good, especially out of all the other places, but if you can afford to hire some good musicians (players would, of course, be able to buy instruments and play them with their keyboard. A truly skill based profession, however, NPCs would still be relied on heavily in most clubs), and maybe serve some drinks that would be less than legal back home, you could draw people out enough to make a profit.

Housing would not be cheap, however. Between the application, materials, and building, even a modest home would cost 8 million gil. The larger ones, hooboy, would take either a very rich man or a group effort. Which would be fine, since they would be able to sleep dozens of people. A small home would of course only have room for two or three people to live there, but a large home could have a dozen rooms, and sleep three or four people in each, and still have room for people to store their valuables. Of course, you would have a trophy room, where you could show off all the nice things you have collected over the years, medals from your country for your service, symbolic things which, though they serve no purpose, still make you feel good-- like the talon from the first time you took down a Wyrm.

Of course, since a house could be so valuable, you'd need to keep it protected... and locked. If you don't have enough guards to keep the less than trustworthy out, someone could easily slip in and steal your things. Leaving the house unlocked would be a great opportunity for anyone that happened to learn, or find out about it. Of course, simple locks would only stop those who did not have lockpicks and the skills to use them, so you might have to get creative.

I think I'll stop there, but we all see how awesome it could be, someday.

Sounds similar to the Star Wars Galaxies system of housing. There you can pretty much build a home anywhere, once you get a permit, and use it for anything from crafting to selling to simple storage. Though you need to pay rent, and if you don't you lose the house, but it's still a cool system. They have literal player-made cities that rival the size of actual game based cities, with everything other cities have to offer.

But as far as my dream Mog House goes, for the most part I have it. Starting from left of the door when you enter is my 'Bar', made up of a Sandy Cupboard, Beverage Barrel, 9-drawer Almirwhatsit and a chest meeting it at a 90 degree angle to make up the bar. There's also a blue pitcher on it, a Dream Coffer, and that Saruta wall scroll from the new years event. Moving up that side of the room there is a blank space on the wall reserved for my Bastokan Flag once I hit Rank 10, then there is my fish tank on top of a cabinet in front of a taru screen. Behind the screen is my 'Bedroom' with a simple bronze bed, a painting on the wall and a rusty bucket (my first furniture and has sentimental value). Also a great place to keep spare change. Across from my bed on the other wall is my 'Office'. A Millionaire's Desk topped off with a stationary set, Time Piece and Bomb Lantern with a waste basket behind it(where my lvl 2 Drg's Wyvern sleeps...his name is Oscar) and a Gustaberg portrait on the wall, seperated from the rest of the room by, well, a giant piece of AU furniture which I don't recall the name of, but damn does it work. Under my window is my Hume M Mannequin, geared up in my frequently used Promy gear holding my still-has-charges, third-ever-sold Twicer in a /hurray stance. And past him is my Armory...which still needs work but features an Armoire (of invincibility) a Cassion (AU munitions chest), a Shield Plaque on the wall and seperated from the room behind a Taru screen of it's own. I'm thinking of dropping the Cassion, as it's very low to the ground and throws the whole thing off, and getting a second Armoire to give it more storage plus a more closed off look, as it also doubles as sort of a changing room.

Though if I could make changes/additions to the MH system, one major change I would *love* if they added was not having displayed furniture take up inventory space. Yeah everything gives at least 1 Storage, but that just means there's one less space for my normal Mog Safe that I can access everywhere. I mean, we already have a limit on the furniture we can have in our MH, so why not let that be the limiting factor and have displayed Furniture take up it's own unique 'inventory' option while removing 1 storage from all furniture leaving us pretty much even storage wise, but with slightly more Safe room and no drawbacks to owning furniture.

Also, I'd like more ways to display equipable weapons and armor besides the Mannequins. With all the cool R/E stuff we get, a way to display them properly would be real nice. Perhaps a weapon rack or armor case which can hold and show off our equipment without taking up 4x4 space or so . Maybe even a way to hang our own weapons on the wall, instead of just the two types of Plaques.

And I would personally *love* to be able to name and personalize my Moogle. Just simple things like choosing between different bandanna colors, or bag colors or giving him a vest or not, just something to differentiate him slightly. Dat wise I've already swapped him for the Nomad Moogle .dat...but that changes all the moogles in game as well.

                          Anyways, I'm done ranting...and that's my MH

                            Ok ok.... 2 things....
                            First Feba said FFXI-2 ..... 2... 2???
What did I miss again? I swear I'm so outside the circle...
Cool idea though.. but the lag!

And as for Zeiro, nice house dude! You made it really creative! I'm still looking up ways to get items that can go on top of my tables... and i can't afford a fish tank or even a mannequin, but I can survive without them.
Also customizing my moogle might be really fun! Giving him a little sandorian hat or cool headband would be so cool!

                              Dream MH:
Cozy room with Lion, Claidie and Ulmia, with a humaniod female moogle with a style thats mix of lulu and paine. Millionaire Desk, bunch of tree sapplings in bloom dried in porclean flower pots. All the special event items decorating the MH, elvaan F, mithra and hume F manniquiens wearing my gear i would never sell or are special rare/ex ones i've obtained but can never use. Add in a San d'Orian style interior, with the right wall having the windy mh fountain, left wall with the Al Zhabi decore. Hmmm, put in a few crystals from sky, and sanctuary of zi'tah in the corners and hanging from the ceiling and i'll call that complete.
Maybe more furnishings like in both my hume and mithra's mh <.< >.> posting screenies as edit later today.
