Mog house expansion! What are your thoughts?

As you well know there will be a new mog house expansion coming out! In this expansion, we'll finally be able to show off our mog houses to other people, great huh?
I know i'm excited, so i decided to make this thread (my first thread yay ^^) to ask what people's thoughts are about this new upgrade. I know it will be coming out soon, but I simply can't contain myself!
So what are some of your thoughts about what will be or should be done to our mog houses? I personally want more space for furniture and a wider variety too, and not as expensive since my poor taru pockets are so tiny...
I also want chairs!! Do you see any sort of sitting items available right now? I actually want to sit in chairs and enjoy drinking my home-brewed tea for a change.

Its just a simple addon to the MH system, to allow others to visit. I find it funny how some people are responding to it. Nothing in your MH will change most likely....
you will just be able to invite others in to show off your house, and sit and chat.

aww come on, don't you want to sit with someone and just talk about life? Have a nice little futon or something and let people sit and talk? There's so many possibilities! I think it could be really fun if SE put some effort into it. Also... if you read the information in the update for the mh, SE said that they wanted to reduce server lag, so why not make new items or whatever to make people actually want to invite others into their mog houses?
Also.. they need to make your original mog house available from Aht Urghan... mainly because it's a pain to go back and forth since most people are in that area anyway.

For one we can sit on the ground and still ahve the same conversation ;p

I am just being realistic, every time a new thing is added, people blow it up way to much, then get dispointed when its somethign simple.

I am just trying to keep it realistic. All the MH thing is going to do, is allow others to enter, and you going to have to go to your home nation to do it as well.

I'm pretty sure SE would want to discourage the congregating of all players in the same zone. Part of the Jeuno-effect (pre-AU) and Whitegate-effect is intentional; it is intended to be a major player hub. However, this has some rather severe drawbacks: Whitegate lag is worse than Lower Jeuno used to be, since Jeuno at least had some spilloff to Port Jeuno, Upper Jeuno, and Ru'Lude Gardens, all of which have auction houses (Upper boasts two), and none of which are subject to periodic beastman raids and kidnapping of NPCs.

SE has gone so far as to allow people to teleport to Whitegate from their home nations (or anyone else's home nation, for that matter) for a mere 300 gil -- far less than the current market value of the Imperial Silver Piece Kaduru-Haiduru demands for the service. I think it's clear that SE would prefer a sizeable number of people choose to keep their home points elsewhere even as Whitegate continues to remain the predominant point of player congregation.

as someone who used to put a good amount of care into how their mog house looked, I think this is long overdue. Sadly it's going to fail because almost all of FFXI's community scks ass.

In a better community, people would use this as a means to RP, and hold housing contests, and socialize. In FFXI, this will most likely be a cheap gimmick that almost everyone forgets about within four months.

thats what I do, my HP has been in Windurst Woods MH exit for about...well since the introduced the warps to Whitegate. Using that, plus my OP warps and warp Taru to get to Jeuno, I can get pretty much anywhere I want, rather fast.

As the shellholder of an RPLS, I don't really care if the general enthusiasm for this fades overnight, we will definitely have a use for this and consider it a valuable resource available to us.

And I spend most of my time in Bastok, myself, though I did keep my home point in Whitegate most of the time until the teleports were introduced, and as a result found myself refusing D2s (and sometimes disbanding quickly to avoid them when they were given without asking) and relying on outposts to get back home most of the time.

So... well i guess what you're saying does make sense. If your personal mog house (back in your nation) was accessible from Whitegate then that would kinda defeat the purpose of all the reduced lag since even MORE people would stay in Whitegate. Bah that's so inconvenient! I guess it was just a fantasy ; ;.
Also about the previous guys' post (i don't know how to quote two posts at the same time in one post) coming back to reality, i guess SE won't do much with the mog house, IE add more stuff and things like sitting in chairs and stuff.
However... if we did how would that affect the market? I mean.. think of all the new woodworking opportunities. What would happen?

A real improvment would allow me/others to sit/lay on my bed, sit at my table, use my mannequin as the ultimate hat/coat rack(allowing even accessories to be hung up), and full use of any drawers, shelves, cabinets, or chests that I have too. THEN I'd have a place worth inviting people to.

Not like I see anything going down like that. You know, just sayin'.

Finally someone who touches on a really good point!! i want to role play! I want to hold little tea parties or cook spaghetti for my friends and have a simulated dinner. I want to invite people in my mog house to enjoy it's atmosphere... i want these things! FFXI needs to get more oriented in having fun rather than just lvling so much and making money. There's more things to do here you know!

I'm looking forward to it, although I would like if they would add more furniture options, so far my MH is just about how much storage i can get, but now i have to make it more pleasing to the eye lol. And I think I'll probably get good use out of this new feature.

Yeah more interaction with furniture and better furniture (and cheaper options) would make this feature really good.

But I'll just settle with having a little more privacy for gatherings.
