Nope. If you can afford the better armor available at the local shops, there isn't much reason to keep them. Note that some pieces, though, have the same DEF as what you can get at the shops for levels 1-7ish, and are good for all jobs, so there's also no reason to ditch them if you're going to be leveling other jobs. You can also always buy the level 1 RSE again if you want it back for some reason.

No.
They are pretty rubbish as they add so little def most people dont deem the 4 slots they take up worthwhile and discard them. You can buy them back at the starting cities for next to nothing.

Funny I always wear them to lvl 7 on whatever new job I'm playing up....but everyone has thier own deal.

The thing is I just use it for starter gear because...well maybe I'm cheap but I just didn't see buying the lvl 1 stuff the NPCs sell...(and you can get better stuff around lvl 7-8)

I'll have to check the AH, because I don't think it's as sure a thing as it used to be. But I'd always buy the cheap level 1 gear at the shops, because when I was done with it, I could sell it to suckers in the starting nations for a profit. Can't do that with the RSE1. Plus, usually by the time I'm cycling through other jobs, I've already gotten rid of it anyway to make room for more important stuff, like a half-stack of cotton thread and two crawler clalculi.

No, I threw my away after I was able to replace it. Now I use Vagabond gear and any special event gear. After 3 years of playing and re-buying gear, I finally made a mule and bought any HQ or rare reusable gear. This way when I decide to level a new job from level 1, all i do is just send the low level gear to my Main.

I prefer Vagabound's Tunica set for that purpose.

In any case, the beginner RSE armor is easy to toss due to its unimpressive stats, and easy to replace from NPC vendor if you ever want the newbie look back.

Usually the NQ whatever body has one def more than the RSE1 body... but at those levels it's kinda silly depending on job... and play style...

I like hairpins on my mages, so from 7+ I don't have a tunic, I have my level 1 robe, and don't upgrade until 10. That's me though, you may not care about 3-7 mp at that level...

I'm this way too. I just started a new character and made money of using the bronze armor set until level 10 and then selling it all. People will pay a lot more for it on AH because it's more convenient than running to the armor shop (I guess).

I do the same, except I have swapped the gloves for Vagabound's gloves. The main reason why I like using my starting equipment is because it brings back memories from when I was just getting started. The reason why I make an exception with the gloves is because I'm a mithra, and both pairs of gloves look basically the same.
