Am I the only one that's actually disappointed with the game's so-called detail with the weather? I can fire up Anarchy Online, and there will be fierce electrical storms passing through areas, with lightning striking viciously, sometimes striking the ground, and loud clashes of thunder to match the scenery alongside wind blowing dust all over, obscuring your view. That happens right outside of West Athens in Rubi-Ka.

In FFXI, a thunderstorm amounts to meager rumbling (not loud at all), a few flashes behind the clouds in the sky, and not a single flash of lightning to be seen. That's really disappointing. Probably the only cool "attention to detail" thing I saw was the rainbow that appeared in the sky after the thunderstorm left.

And speaking of that rainbow... see the attachment.

you got no idea how true this is.. during the early days of beta.. the gms said that the summoner class was impossible to get.. it simply cannot be attained in the beta..

a small group fo adventurers then decided to see if they can do the so called impossible..

the only thing that stood in our way was ice.. so we were talking.. etc.. i consulted with some importers... someone mentioned seasons of vanadiel

i didn't really believe it.. the truth was i knew at lvl 30.. we had to go to the glacier to get ice.. which we did and got summoner.. aka history

..but during the last few weeks of beta.. the oddest thing happened and it made me smile, reminisce and just shake my head..

IT SNOWED ON BATTALLIA .. :spin: yep, snowflakes.. in batallia downs . ) hee

        yes.. vanadiel has seasons

The Aurora Borealis thing in Qufim was awesome. Also this Sand Storm in Altepa! I went right into it and went all crazy.

I thought I read somewhere that weather did affect your characters magic-wise. Like, if you cast a fire spell in the rain it wouldn't do as much damage. Or conversely, if you cast a fire spell in the snow, it would do extra damage. Was that information incorrect?

I actually think that the season should have more effects like if it ever did snow in san'doria....that say perhaps monsters that normally you'd only find in the far noth would migrate and spawn where the snow was or say the monsters diffred from the summer and the spring *shrugs*
