Aurora Borealis and Weather in FFXI

I was watching the live cam and happened to see an event in the sky very similar to Aurora Borealis(Northern Lights). It looked so nice from what I could see, but I haven't seen any screenshots of this. Has anyone else seen this?

Also I have an odd question about in-game weather patterns. Does weather occur differently over large distances or is it one type of weather pattern all over the world?

Yes I would like to know also. ^_^ And how long do the different seasons last? Does it ever snow anywhere besides the snowy place? And does weather ever hinder your character? Probably not but just thought I would ask

Well, there arent really seasons... But weather changes with the area's... If its a large grassland (La Theine), it will rain alot... and it does... Deserted sands (Valkurm) Always windy, and the wind blows up the sand, and lags the game up reeeeeaaaal nice.... Snow, obviously falls in a cold place.... But no seasons tho.. it would be nice to see a snowy San d'Oria

No, weather doesnt affect your character.

There are seasons? Well, I guess u have been around V'D more than I have... I never really noticed any changes in weather.

It's been so cloudy most of the time when I see the Live Cam, but just now, the sky was clear enough for me to see the stars at night! What an amazing sight! It looked incredible. They've done such a great job on putting detail into the game!

Oh, I saw a storm, too, with really great thunder.

It would be pretty nice to have snow in Sand'oria. Maybe, even a few weather disasters (flood or twister) :p That'll make everyone panic and bring more realism to the game.

I would like having for seasons in Vana'diel. *sigh* running through a glistening forest with golden leaves everywhere, or having to fight off wild winter beasts in the cold, or just hanging with your friends at the beach on a sunny day or just resting in a medow full of beautiful flowers and listening to the birds sing.

That would be bliss. Plus, they could like hold tournaments during summer (earth time) and have lots mre monsters in Vana'diel in the Autumn or having less monsters in medowey aeras during the spring time so you can just relax and forget about the troubles of your off-line life. :spin: :spin: :spin:

hehe...that'd be sweet indeed.....oh and can you make your character perform actions? i mean can we wave their hands? make them sit down? lie on the floor? make it look angry? just wanna know if we can communicate a bit with japs lol....and lying on the grassy lands dazzing at the sky would indeed be a bliss!!

afaik, you cannot "sit down," but resting will allow you to kneel and creating an item from ingredients will make you sit down first

lol ya i honestly cant wait for this game... this games detail looks so cool.

im used to shittie eqoa, sun rises , and sets, and meh, nothing special and the stars are pathetic...

Anyway, I saw one too on Qufim island. Not sure if it happens anywhere else.

There are also certain enemies that only appear when the weather effects are in motion (ie during a thunder storm Thunder Elementals will appears).

Also there are certain enemies (usually the strong scary types ) that only appear at night. And they will come after you if they see/hear/smell you :dead:
