Hello everyone. I just recently got into Final Fantasy XI and i bought it for 360. The problem is that my mom is always taking the tv at night and thats the only time i have to play. So i own the very original ffxi for pc and chains of promathia expansion. I was wondering what you guys think i should. Do you think i should install chains of promathia and the rest of the game on my pc and just play on my pc when i cant on 360. Or do you think i should wait for the Wings of the goddess expansion to come out and buy it when it bundles with all the expansions. Im also considering buying the bundle of ffxi expansions they have now its only 19.99 so its not that bad, but i dont want wings of the goddess to come out in 1 month and they make a new bundle and im one expansion short. Im sorry if i confused you guys. If you could help me out or give me your opinon it would be awesome. Thanks a lot guys

Re: Quick Question
Well if you actually want to play, just install it on your PC, and keep playing for now, on PC when you have to, and 360 when you can. If you are in fact new to the game, you don't need ToAU yet, and WotG isn't even out yet. Just keep playing on PC till WotG comes out, with what you currently have, and then grab a bundle if/when they make it. And you're gonna have to buy it for 360 too...which sucks, but at least you can play for now, right?
Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Re: Quick Question
The thing is, you really just need the disks to install the content, since you already have your character registered with all expansions on the 360 version. So if you could borrow the disks from someone, or find a reliable digital download (no official ones, unfortunately), then you'd be set.
Or you can bite the bullet and buy the $19.99 collection and install that way.
Or, heck, isn't there a way to download it, or install it with the starter disk that they are currently offering? That might be a reasonable alternative that will only cost a couple of dollars.

Re: Quick Question
well thats the thing. Im only lvl 25 right now i wanted to be a blue mage, but i guess i cant when i play on pc so i have to do other things when i play on pc and other things when i play on 360. The sentence you said about "at least you get to play" really got to me. So i guess i can install it and just play when i can. I like the download idea, but i looked and unless im doing a really bad job, I cant find anything that will let me do that. Kind of sucks that i keep on have to buying expansions for both systems. But i guss i got to do what i got to do. What you guys think?

Re: Quick Question
As I said, you don't have to buy them. Do you know anyone else who plays? Maybe you could borrow their install disks. You just need the content, not the registration codes (which is what you're paying for when you buy it).

Re: Quick Question
If you buy the Vana'diel collection 2007, it will make updating the game much easier.
However, if you don't mind setting your computer up over night to download and install the updates, then it really doesn't matter all that much.
It is highly recommended that you get ToAU for levels 50+, as that's the popular place to be at that point. CoP is only useful right now at end-game, with access to Sky.
But, it's all up to you. Just because you're installing it on your PC doesn't mean you'd be paying anything extra, and there's no reason not to do it anyway, so long as you can handle the updates (which you may still have to do if you wait for WoG...)Kindadarii (Bahamut)

Re: Quick Question
The difference is the collection includes account codes so that you can set up an account and keep playing all those expansions after the trial period. With the starter disc, you have to pay more to actually register the game and expansions so you can keep playing beyond the trial period. But since you already have an account and expansions registered, that doesn't matter.Ellipses on Fenrir
There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

Re: Quick Question
okay well thats good to hear. But as i continue to read about this starter kit, all it says is the original FFXI doesnt say anything about the expansions. If this is the case then of course i will buy the starter set. Also i just recenetly found that square is releasing Final Fantasy XI Online: Vana'Diel Collection 08 which obviously includes everything. So now i have a lot of options. But if what you guys say is right i will go today to pick up a copy of the starter pack and hopefully it will include all the expansions (excluding) Wings of the Goddess. If you guys have any other suggesstions of ideas please let me know. i wish i had more money this wouldnt be an issue. Thanks

Re: Quick Question
The starter disk has the content, but it's not really advertised on the disk because you can't access the data without purchasing the registration codes online. But the codes don't matter to you because your account already has them registered from the Xbox version.
Being level 25 you won't need anything from Aht Urghan other than unlocking the 3 ToAU jobs. In my opinion, it would probably be best just to work on all your subjobs for blu while you wait for the '08 collection to come out. Level up Nin, Whm, Thf, and perhaps War to 37 in the next month for things to do.
If you really wanted to, log on the xbox, run to Aht Urghan and unlock the job, just be sure to logout in a zone you can access on PC.
This way when the new expansion comes out, you can just hope into leveling Blu (or perhaps a new job) without having to worry about leveling subs later down the road. But the starter disc is only 4 bucks, so no real loss if you get that in the meantime.
