There is no possibility of it being gender-specific unless SE wants to start going against five years of game design. The possibility of this class being gender-specific is about as high as the possibility of Chocobo Knight.

Okay, Okay. Rumor squashed... I didn't think it was true anyway. That still deosn't mean that SE isn't targetting certain poeple with this new job.

Well of course SE is targeting someone. Why put a job in the game that no one wants to play?

From things I've read the 3 ToAU jobs were SE versions of jobs that people were asking for. Pup was the necromancer for example. Everyone wanted another pet job that acted like a Necromancer, so SE gives us pup. People wanted melee mages and we get blu. Wanted a more DD bard so they gives us Cor.

SE targets the people that play thier series of games. Not only to obtain new customers, but keep thier old characters. Unlike single player games where they don't have to keep you satisfied after they get your money, thier sorce of income on FFXI is subscriptions, so you have to give people what they want at least some of the time.

I think this whole thing is hilarious, tbh. Maybe they just need to remove some ruffles from the AF or something. Although you'd be hard pressed to find male ballet dancers who don't put up with a few ruffles for their craft. It just comes with dancing. This is something I know. I've been dancing 21 years.

Why would they have a gender specific job? So you're a male character, but Dancer just looks awesome. Let's say it's this awesome pwnage 1337 DD job (doubtful, but just for the sake of argument), generally your males are going to gravitate toward that. So you'd have to raise a new character in order to level dancer?

While in the short run that kind of makes sense: "Hmm, if we had a dollar for every male character who wants to dance ... " (quite literally) in the long run, how many people would start over for one new job? Not many. Hardy any, I'd wager.

Seriously, it's kind of dumb to think Dancer would be just for girl characters. Even though I shudder at a Galka in Dancer AF just like everyone else, it'd be kind of dumb to do it that way. If a job was made just for male characters I'd be pissed, too. I want to try every job at least, and I'd be mad if I had to start a male character just to do that.

Just my thoughts ... take 'em or leave 'em.

Actually, have at least 8 females in my Dynamis shell, and about 4 regulars in my social. We're out here.

I don't see how you guys can't comprehend that a Dancer job could/probably be targetting female or gay people/players. Maybe it's not blatent enough. Maybe if they had a Maid, Nurse, or Mermaid job, you guys would be like WTF?! I'm not saying that men can't be dancers. In fact, I feel that male dancers are generally more sought after than female ones. The point is, there is a new target audience out there, and SE is shootin' for it... I'm out.

There is AF armor that is just as frilly(Cor), just as flamboyant(Pup), and far more revealing(War) then what Dancer seems to be.

Plus, it'd be real funny watching a big, blue, bald and bearded galka prancing around in a red frilly shirt

That's because the job makes NO SEXUAL IMPLICATIONS WHAT-SO-EVER. There is nothing about the Dancer class that in any way, shape or form promotes, suggests or implies a sexual nature or preference. As I said before, it seems to be based more on the Salsa/Flamenco type styles of dancing which is something practiced by both genders equally. The vibrant movements, the red and frills, the poses and stance all scream 'flamenco', which is something both males and females do.

I'm not sure, really. Galka tend to look pretty cool in most of the AF, so I'm not sure why everyone is being so weird about it.
