No, they would be awesome. Or rather, will be.

I just dont like the idea of saying people make pointless threads when theres some room for a conversation. So hard for people to be a little civil?

I also am of the opinion that it is pretty much obvious that SE isnt gonna do that sort of thing, but dont come barging in with your nose way high saying how much a thread is pointless. It counts as destructive criticism, and is, the way i see it, flame bait.

Carry on with the discussion of why SE isnt gonna implement a sex-based job.

I'll make a galka character just for dancer. Wish i had that much free time tbh.

That's just it, though. I honestly and truly believe there's no room beyond that statement for conversation. This game is built upon the fact that any race can do any job, and gender has no functional difference. That covers the entire topic in its entirety, so what disscussion is there?

Therefore, a pointless thread. No flame-bait, just the honest truth.

well, i think the major point is the fact that the topic was created with the 'matter-of-fact' concept that Dancer is a female only class, which is in every way shape and form an incorrect assesment. As such, an entire topic about why SE would make a gender specific class when they *didn't* make a gender specific class is just a bit, for lack of a better term, uneeded. Now I apaologize if I was hostile, or offensive as that was not my intent, but this topic was created using incorrect information being stated as fact so it's obvious why people felt it's 'not needed'.

I'm sorry but if anything makes this thread more stupid is that one line right there. If dancing is supposed to be gay now where you live, I totally understand why you don't like the outdoors.
It's more about the clothing. Really it was a slam against PUP and COR (and BBQ's avatar).

And balfree, this is an extremely pointless (and stupid-ass) thread. The only room for discussion here is how SE would be retarded to make a gender specific job, and you'd have to be incredibly gullible to believe such a rumour, and that's off topic to this thread.

Seriously though, its like some unspoken male fear has erupted from within the player community ever since the job was announced. Hell, I think whenever people have mentioned it as a possible job prior to the announcement its been steadily followed by the juvenile knee-jerk "gay" comments.

What's really going on here is some people are just trying to convince themselves this will be a gender-specific class. To what end, I don't know. Maybe it could end up being really useful and desired for endgame and they just can't handle the idea of their Galka DRK dancing. Because all their friends say dancing is "gay."

I look at dancing as a way of meeting people and having fun. I've met a lot of women at dances and see their boyfriends out sitting by themselves. I've literally taken their girl over to them and walked them through the steps and within a few minutes, they're off dancing together. Its not too hard. There's nothing gay about being in very close proximity of a woman, girlfriend, friend or stranger over the course of a song.

I took a dance class in high school. I was the only guy in the class. I figured actual exercise and being in a room full of chicks in leotards was a win/win. The girls actually got to learn to dance with a male partner instead of having to be the male partner in the dance. It beat the hell out of standard gym class, which was really just a free period to do homework in most of the time.

But other guys didn't learn to dance, so the excuse they make now in their later years is that its gay. Well, I'm being totally gay with your girlfriend at the next dance I go to.

                    Nothing's getting out of hand.

And it's not only about this thread itself either.

You (this means everyone. clarification) will stop making asinine comments to threads or i think im gonna start losing my patience. If you have nothing worth adding then refrain from being rude and derogatory atleast, in this or any other thread. On any section of these forums.

The thread may be pointless, it may be stupid and you might disagree with the opinions therein, but you will get off your high horse. Some of the replies here really tick my nerves, choose your words before you post, or if you must post something, do not be abrusive. I am sick and tired of that.

                    Dancing is awesome.

it wont be female only for one reason, BRD can be played by both genders, if they where going to pull somethign dumb like gender only classes, they would have done it, with BRD = Male and Dancer = female

Balfree, thanks for the backup! Topic: WHETHER OR NOT DANCER WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR MALE CHARACTERS, I think this will play into the new gamer's hands. For those of you who say females do play, just look at the statistics. 99 to 1 male to female or something... Yeah, females play (snicker). Anyway, of the hundreds of women I've ever met, I know one that plays FFXI. I think it will be sooo much easier for me to get my fiance' to start a character with the dancer job available. Like your average/normal girl, she doesn't play RPGs. I've played damn near every RPG ever, and it still took me 3 years to decide to try FFXI. And, I hadn't considered the "gay" targetting thing either. That just might be true as well for SE's plan. With all this controversy, SE is winning either way. Does anyone have proof that the Dancer will definitely NOT be female only job?

                          Re: Dancer for Money/Girls?

I can't say there is anything evidence that Dancer will be playable by both races or just one; but seeing as in the 18 jobs that exist already there are not jobs that are gender dependent.

Why would they make a job race/gender specific? When you start the game there is absolutly no difference in genders, and race differences are fairly neglible in most cases. At least in WoW you know before hand that your choice in character will restrict you options later on.

Some people have over 5 years of time and effort invested in their character and don't want to start a new character to try out a new job. There are also people that need that feel of completness. It would irritate the living hell out of me to have a job as ??? in my list and having no way of unlocking it.

                          But it's funny, anytime I hear the word 'dancer' I never immediatly think of female dancers. I always get the Lord of the Dance stuck in my head. >.>;

                          But no matter...

I'm gonna be the prettiest dancer evah!

Everyone says that SE doesn't make gender-specific jobs... Well, how about gender-specific races or armor? How much different is that from not being able to play a male Mithra or female Galka? Why can't your male character wear that beautiful Opaline gear? They definitely will cater to a gender... Even though I doubt the dancer will be female character only, I hope it is just to see the reactions.

Sure there is race specific gear, that either has identical stats as the opposing gender, or is mearly an aestetic piece of gear like the opaline dress.

There are a few little pieces that give some marginal stat for one gender or the other, but I believe thier is a opposing piece or general piece with the same benefits.

They cater to races on in the aspect of looks, stat-wise they have not given any one gender anything unique.

...tons of females who play this game POST ON THIS FORUM. It's not a new audience, it's an audience that has been playing games as long as everyone else. It's just smaller. FFXI isn't doing something new or specifically targeting any group with this new class, it's just adding a new class that has been in old Final Fantasies.

It's not 'whether or not' because it *will* be available for both genders. Dancing is not female only, this class has nothing to do with sexual orientation in any way shape or form, and there is nothing about this class or even it's image that suggests that at all. This Dancer is a festive, vibrant dancer with absolutely no sexual innuendos related to it at all. There will be male Dancers, they will have a frilly red outfit, and they will dance around as actively and energetically as the female Dancer.

There is no controversy, just the same baseless speculation that comes with every new job announcment. There is nothing feminine about the act of Dancing in and of itself.

Also, my thanks in OMG's post was more for the Scrubs clip then the actual content of the post >.>
