  • Need gil desperatly!! Out of ideas ; ;

Ok anyone notice, the prices of everything is going down alot lately, things like hmm, grain seeds I noticed are selling for 2-5k only, thats not even worth the time it takes to get them, also hive chips and all those common farm items take to long and are worse next to nothing anymore.

I have run out of ideas for money, other than things like betting at the chocobo circuit... already wasted 3k and won nothing on that.

Please can someone suggest some things I could do to get some gil, I need around 200k pretty quick for new armor, and all that stuff. My highest job is a 37 blu. Thanks for the help ^^

Farm and sell lots of little things.

Do some BCNM runs, check the Wiki for a list of those you can do and strategies for successfully doing them.

At your level, farming might be your best option. =/ I need to make gil for Pup so I've been hanging around Sarutabaruta, selling beehive chips, silk threads, and honey at the Windurst AH. I've been farming in the area where Spinny Spipi spawns so that while I'm farming crawlers I might run into him too and get a nice cape to sell.

They really need to rework the loot tables for FFXI. Allow, as in other games, mobs to drop level relative gear and larger denominations of cash. Increase the buying value at vendors as well.

Notice how you said 'everything' is dropping in price. Farming items, crafting items, and even quest and BCNM items are all dropping in price. So it's not exactly as bad as you make it out to be.

Sure grain seeds have dropped 50% or more in value, but the gear and such that you want is also dropping so it will take about the same number of seeds to fund you gear as before. At least this is how it appears on my server and I wouldnt' think yours would be that much different from mine.

However, to you money problems; theres always repeatable quest and the same tried and true methods of gil making. Trade in rusty buckets in Bastok, fish up Moat carp to sell in Sandy, beehive chips, silk threads and such still sell. A lot of people are taking this depression in the economy to start leveling crafts if they have stock piles of gil stashed up. Look into mining up ores and harvesting logs and other craft materials. They may not sell for as much as they use to, but they sell and usually sell pretty fast.

            Best of luck to you.

Problem is, whilst farmed items like the Beehive Chips are dropping in price, not all gear is dropping in price at the same rate.

For example, the Sha'ir Manteel is still many millions of Gil because of the difficulty of obtaining the cloth (is it Cashmere from Vrtra - can't remember offhand).

However, yes, gear that can be drummed up from easily farmed items will drop in rough line with the ingredients mostly.

Well my reference was made with the knowledge that he's only in the 30s. I can't think off hand of any particularly hard to obatin gear from 30-60 that isn't from more common drops.

When you bring things like Manteel's, Kraken Clubs and the like into the picture that's a different story. Manteels in particular are not often put up on the AH. Most people I know that are capable of taking down Vrtra or Bahalmut V2 are in well established endgame shells. As such, many will make Manteels for thier LS bards; once all the bards have them then an LS might make and sell the Manteels to split profits among the LS members present. (At least that's how my LS does it)

Entering into 60s or so I think the highest priced gear might be things that require a Damascus Ingot/cloth or are HQ versions of stuff. While HQ is nice, I don't expect a person fairly new to the game and leveling thier first job to have every piece of gear HQed. Especially Tier0 or 1 synths that you don't see many of.

While it varies from server to server, I notice a lot of NQ gear being sold and huge losses. In particular Scorpion Harnesses, Cursed mitts (or most cursed gear), Dusk gear, NQ staves and quite a few other common pieces. Most of the garden variety AH gear that most people use for exping are already at such a huge discount, I'm not sure why people still craft them.

But yes, a lot of the elite epeen endgame gear will still run you millions. But, in my opinion, if you not in an LS that can obtain the materials for it; you probably don't really need that gear and won't put it to full use. Not to say you won't want it; and if you're willing to sacrifice for it by all means go for it.

2-5k for grain seeds?! Consider yourself damned lucky - on Ramuh they average 500-1k!

He means a stack their 9k a stack on Ramuh. On my server Garuda their about 5.5k a stack.

some CP items still sell ok. For some amout of gill, sell all crystals in stacks in Jeuno you can get about 1-2k a stack depending on server for most types. You could try some low level NM's and sell their drops.

If you can risk loosing a bit op exp and have some Beastman seals to expend then you could do the Treasure and Tribuations basically attack one of the 3 chests you have 1 out of 3 chance of getting a chest of 2 items from teh loot list or 2/3 you get a mimic = instant death if you can't warp out so bring a warp scroll.

I know I said for newbies when I made this money making guide but for solo gil making everything I said still pretty much applies at higher levels too. Honestly on Hades at least if you can stand doing it for long enough you can make over 100k a day harvesting if the market isn't in a slump and about the same mining (but only with about level 15-20 smithing and goldsmithing).

NM hunting I don't really do so I can't really talk about so much, my luck with drops is bad enough for me to have given up for the most part.

If you have a few friends though things do get a bit easier. If you can scramble to level 40 there are quite a few 3 man level 40 bcnm that have a chance to drop Utsusemi:Ni. Royal Jelly is pretty easy with quite a few job combinations. If you have 5 friends and CoP 1-2 (just cut scenes) done then you are high enough to be doing ENM which are free to do and give a bunch of exp as well as some very very nice possible rewards even if you are sharing the money out.

Like other people said, if you have some excess conquest points then some of the lower level conquest items sell for nice money, good for filling in gaps.

I do a combo of harvesting, mining and fishing. It's steady. I try to time it so that I do it ready to sell at a weekend when everyone and their mother seems to craft on Bahamut. It kind of ties up mules, but stuff moves fast. Other than that, the old methods still work.

One thing I also do in this despressed economy - sell every damn thing I can to a npc, whereas I might have just tossed before.

I do this a LOT too - especially some of these ToAU drops like Puk Eggs, Mamool weapons and Colibri Feathers sell to NPCs for a lot more than they do on the AH, and it only gets better as your fame goes up.

Yeah I really should get my fame up for that. I love meriting on trolls on occasion - the xp might be a tad lower (though, with a decent bard, should still get 14k+ an hour), but I came out of one meripo 50k richer and three merits better off.

Hell I even npc the 1g items I get when harvesting

I hope the OP has THF to 15+ ... it's a useful enough sub in any case, and TH does wonders for farming. Besides, starting half the fights with SA and stealing now and then speeds matters up...
