Here's my story: I'll make it as short as possible.

I've been addicted to FF online for many years. My girlfriend utlimately left me because of that. She moved to China for her job. I decided I loved her more than FF Online, so I threw my game's discs in the trashbin and left for China looking for her. I finally got her back... and I also got a job in Shanghai.

I'm in Shanghai now, and I've changed my mind: FF Online is way more interesting than this girl. So I want to get back to the game.

But I can't find the game's discs here: they're not sold anywhere. Plus I can't buy them online, since eBay and the other services of online shopping don't deliver in China. I absolutely need a Vana'Diel Buddy Pass number. Or if you think of any other way for me to get the game, wether by ordering it or by downloading it, please, I'm begging you on my knees, let me know. I want the whole thing to be legal: no counterfeit stuff.

Thank you in advance for your kindness. I'm really suffering here. Life without FF Online... pffff... it just doesn't make any sense.

Oh, and in exchange for the buddy pass number, I can offer you a place to stay if you're in Shanghai, and also... my eternal friendship, wathever it worth!

Oh god, if it makes you feel any better, I spent like five minutes laughing at this statement.

Anyway, there's obviously some method for getting FFXI in China. I might have some codes you could use, but there's no way I could afford to ship the discs to China. There's no way to download FFXI, sadly. Personally, in your situation, I'd ask RMT for help, but you don't want any shady stuff, so I suppose that's out.

FFXI is like cancer to a relationship.

My first (and only) girlfriend I was fine with for about 7 months, then I restarted my FFXI account, never played. 4 days later we broke up!

FFXI has that special kind of magic ^,^

i find these girlfriend vrs videogame stories interesting .. i can't really relate to them, though. i've met my boyfriend through ffxi, and we've been together nearly five months now. though these days, i'm getting the feeling we're secretly cheating on each other with ffxi ...

One thing that gets me is the Op threw everything away to be with this girl, so she must have had a bloody good impression and love for him to go to Shangai from outside of China, so why the sudden loss of interest and requirement to play the game?

So you have the girl of your dreams back after screwing it up first time round because you paid more attention to the game than her. Now she has stayed with you you want to screw it up again?

Its an interesting first post in this forum and I will say I am very sceptable about the whole story. It takes a lot to move out of a country, money, family problems etc. etc. and for a foreigner to just get a job like that in China is also very difficult, you have visas etc. to worry about which take time and are soemtimes near on impossible to get especially in the current US vs China environment. You wouldn;t have guarenteed 100% to find her so you wouldn;t even have applied for a job visa until you found her which adds more time etc. The fact is your willing to repeat what happened before when you are as you say in a foreign country is beyond belief. Does Shrink ring a bell? Cause you should see one.

I don't know if the OP's story is true but at least he was willing to give it a try I guess, but in the end he didn't get the happy ending as it happens so often.


And I gotta say it's sad but true, there are times when the time you spend on an activity you like (be it a video game or anything else) can be much more enjoyable than the time you spend dating.

I don't think it's a problem at all if someone assigns a higher priority to a video game over a relationship, but more like the act in itself shows that the relationship isn't really worth it for that person.

When you really like someone you will choose her above anything else because that's how you really feel, but doing that out of obligation will only bring you misery. Gotta be honest, enduring a relationship that isn't making you very happy just because you want a gf, you want sex, people tells you that's how you should do things etc. etc. will only make you suffer in the end.

It is true relationships require a lot of work, but no matter how tough it could be - being the person you love will make it worth it in the end. However, enduring everything like a good sport for a girl that doesn't even make you happy.... screw that, where my Sixashock?

Technically there is a way, although rather bothersome. He'd need someone to upload images of the game discs so that he could download them. Then he'd just need the activation codes.

And yeah, as blunt as this is going to be, there's something wrong with you if you realized you "love" this girl more than the game and chased her all the way to China only to realize you "love" the game more than her. It's one thing if it didn't work out, but the way it's worded it's pretty much implied you love both of them but you're picking the game over here anyways. Priorities, priorities.
