If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

As hard as it may be, don't take this game or your characters too seriously. I promise you - the guys that really own your account don't.
I always come back because of all the regulars, the decent intelligence of the community (I can't stand Alla or KI; I posted one of my videos on there and people started a whole lot of stupid crap, changed the subject, made fun of small things...etc...etc...*dies*), and the informative threads, guides and posts.
Plus a creative section actually exists here. No more wading through the general discussion forums.
I found the forum way back in 2003 a little bit after NA release. I just typed in "Final Fantasy Online" and here it was
I actually lurked for a good year and a half before I even got around to posting myself. My reasons for being is pretty much the same as everyone else's; great community and no major emo drama like the other FFXI forums.
I'd have to say the community, the wealth of knowledge, and entertainment that are all abundant are what does it for me. I came to this site a long time ago, but only really started to post regularly during the Great Alla Exodus. I had forgotten I had already had an account here, which threw me for a loop.
Watching the latest BBQ rant or Feba roast is amuzing to no end, and poring over Armando's and Callisto's research helps me improve my game from time to time (as well as those whom I pass the info along to; btw, my Vorpal Blade thanks Callisto and the RDM community for helping me crank out even more damage on BLU ). The mods and s.mods keep the forums clean and accessable by keeping the chaff out, and are actually members as well that take part of the community. Of course, the DiV linkshell on Kujata makes things even more enjoyable.
I've improved my game on Dragoon, Blue Mage, and Corsair thanks to people on these boards, and I've made sure to repay the favor by passing along my experience to those that follow my callings, whether they be Drachen, Magus, or Pirate in nature.
I typically love the deep stories in a FF game. For this game it's basically the same thing. i love crating my own videos out of them also. Th ething that keeps me coming back is my LS. I take short 1 month breaks to refresh the engines. Then I come back with a Vigor to do nearly anything.
its the first one
old sk00l
and not filled with retards
cept maybe for me
it was amazing back in the day
all they beta/importers had screens everyday for the rest of us to drool over
but nowadays
its great cause its not filled with idiots
I'm still relatively new to these boards, but this is for the most part my forum of choice now.
The #1 reason: Many posters are knowledgeable without being elitist when it comes to the job forums. That's hard to find in most FFXI community forums. I obviously am here mostly for the RDM forums, it's nice to have a discussion with a few other RDMs who A) understand game mechanics and B) are open with ideas & feedback.
The #2 reason: The 'Thanks!' button. Every forum needs this.
The #3 reason: The others who have helped me w/ game mechanic math, Armando, Amele, etc. That shit was hard to figure out!

Kain (FFIV): I am aware of my actions, but can do nothing about them.
I hate getting flame sprayed for questions which many (most?) people would find basic. While I really don't care what other ppl think, I also really don't care to hear about it....
...oh, and the sarcasm..... *sniff, sniff* ....smells like home.
