Level 20 Now What

I get very little time to play...and this is the first time I've gotten to twentieth level. So I got the right to ride chocobos (and now breed them.) And I got a sub-job and leveled that to 20th....

Now what? Is there anything I can do beside work on leveling to 25 so I can get my 2-3 mission done?

Where should I level? Should I stay in the dunes...I've tried the island but I generally just die there.

I've been doing little quests and I've unlocked something in Jeuno (i'm told it's COP) just by wandering around the island.

Most people level on Qufim Island from 20-24ish. You can seek while in Jeuno (while fishing, shopping, or just chatting with friends) while you wait for a party. If you want to solo for exp, you can stick around the Dunes, or Buburimu Peninsula, which is similar in mob level range.

If you're only soloing, then I would definitely suggest staying away from Qufim. It'll be a few levels before anything there is comfortably soloable for you. But for Party EXP, it's the place to be.

If you've got some linkshell friends just ask them to help you with 2-3. For the longest time I thought 2-3 was 20 cap.

As for where to level Qufim Island is popular and will probably be your best bet of getting a party. Valkurm Dunes however will not provide your party with enough experience points to make it worth wild because all the mobs will /check as Tough or lower.

Since I haven't been around as much I can't post URLs but if you go to Allakhazam and look up quests there they'll sometimes (not all the time) give you the recommened level. Just do the ones that you can.

If your in a linkshell try getting your members to do quests such as Eco-Warrior or get some friends and organize a Garrison in one of the starter zones.

As you get closer to level 24-25 you can start thinking about farming the items you need for getting your Kazham airship pass. The items required are Chest Keys from Giddeus, Ghelsba and Palaborough Mines. This can be done as you are doing your Rank 2-3 mission since you will be going to 2 of those places anyways, and the third will be the one close to your home city. Good luck.

I have a few level 20-ish jobs that I might be inclined to level, so if you want a leveling partner I can help you with that or someone in the ls can. Also, the Dragon is {too weak} and I'm always glad to take the chance to own it. If you feel like grabbing a pearl (or heck, just sending me a /tell) I'll be glad to get that done for you.

Nation Mission 2.3 is a good goal. Between now and Lv.25, you'll want to work on getting the Airship Pass for Kazham, for access to popular exp spots for the coming levels. Lv.30 is when you can unlock extra jobs, if you're interested in those.

If you're a bit tired of leveling up, you can try your hands at crafts and hobbies. I particularly recommend fishing and gardening, as those help to bring in some Gil without spending a huge amount of Gil in the first place.

There is one somewhat dangerous quest you can do once you've reach Lv.25 on WHM (or RDM) and have both Sneak and Invisible spells: An Explorer's Footsteps. It will net you a little Gil, but more importantly, give you the map to the Crawlers' Nest. More than that, you get to see a little more of Vana'diel which you may not have seen before, and learn a little bit about its history.

WHM20 is actually OK for exp'ing in Qufim Island in a balanced, full party. You can get Lv.21 first elsewhere if you wish.

Thanks all for the advice....it's nice to know I'm on the right track. I hear a lot of talk about what to do at 25 and above but not so much at those 5 levels before.

I'm at the point in Explorer's Footsteps that the places I have left to get the keys are guarded by some baddies way above my level. I can generally make it to all of them but die before I can use the clay.

I do have a great link shell but I need to set aside time for the mission. I've started 2-3...so I will ask for that soon.

I thought I had a lot longer to go for the Airship pass items....I'm in the P-Mines alot as they are cash cow if your patient (each trip worth 2k gil and you get a free ride back to Bastok) I get a lot of stuff for my goldsmithing this way that otherwise I would have to pay for.

If you want to continue to solo until level 25 I would suggest that you continue to kill easy prey - even match enemies in Palaborough Mines, Konschtat Highlands, and/or Pashhow Marshlands. These are not the only places to solo, just some suggestions. Make sure you get an Empress Band so that Exp gain will be decent.

If you wish to party from level 20-25 I suggest leveling your Warrior job higher so it can be a sub job option. You will receive more invites that way. Qufim Island is most likely the zone where you will be partying, possibly moving to Lower Delkfutt's Tower as you get higher.
