  • Ps3

I haven't looked into it but I was hoping someone here could answer my question... If I went out and bought FFXI for PS2 and tried to download it straight to my PS3 would it work? I know there would also be a patch i'd need to download but aside from that I'd like to start up an account from my PS3 if at all possible.

      Re: Ps3

You 1st need to download and then install the PS2 HDD program from the Playstation Store. After that you can install and run POL and FFXI.

Installing FFXI is annoying in the PS3 compared to a PC though, as you need to open the viewer first every single time and install it from there. Simply putting the disc in and launching it from the XMB won't work. It'll go to a nifty expansion title screen give you a few options but when you try to install it'll ask you to please start up POL.

        Re: Ps3

steps to installing on a PS3:

        1. download the PS2 system file from the Playstation store
        2. Put in the POL install disk...you'll be promted to make a 10 GB partition for the data
        3. Install and update pol (making your account/entering your account info along the way)
        4. Start POL and put in FFXI/ROZ install disk
        5. Put in Chains of Promithia install disk after restarting POL agian
        6. Put in TAOU install disk after restarting POL again
        7. connect to POL, make content IDs and eanter all the codes into expnaded services(if it's a new account)
        8. spend 2+ hrs updating with 3-4+ years of updates
        9. Make a charter and start playing
*some steps can be skipped if you have an existing account

You mentioned "download"...sorry but you need the install disks I mentioned above since the client is not available online in any way.(not on a website and not on the Playstation store). The installs keep getting rarer and rarer...so I'd just get the PC edition...unless EB is right and there's a collection...
