So taking 9k people had donated, and then lieing about selling the site to wikia for $200.000 is moral and correct?

That is money people where told was needed to keep the site alive.

I think you should actually read the link before going on some inane rant.

I'd be more concerned with what "charities" did with money after 9/11 and other tragic events before I'd even furrow my brow over a fucking video game wiki.

BG is this way, take the drama there.

So you don't understand the problem with selling a wiki made purely from user contributed material, whilst also grabbing the donation money and hoping noone notices wiki actually paid you for the wiki.

And what the hell does 9/11 charities have to do with this?

Much as I smiled, I do think keeping the drama in one place, aka the BG forums, is a good idea...

What I'm saying is that, in the scope of things, this amounts to shit compared to the money the Red Cross makes off its charities and how much they pocket themselves.

Moreover, didn't Taj hack Ganiman's account for this information? That would be illegal, would it not? He seemed proud of it. Don't get me wrong, I've had my go-rounds with Ganiman in the past, but the dude made a choice.

Just like people who donated made a choice. History should tell you not all charities go 100% to thier intended cause, you're a halfwit if you think otherwise.

And lolBGwiki. Go FFXI Wiki with drama!

yeah hacking to get the info needed to expose this "fraud" is just as bad

he was the servers admin, he was the was with the account and all that jazz for the servers, so he has the right to sell it.

This is probably completely hypocritical of me, but I don't really care. Yeah, yeah, if I had donated, I'd be up in arms, crying while making a Youtube video about the incident, but I didn't. It is impossible to find a website 100% without shady dealings, so, as horrible as it may sound, I'm going to find the website that I like the best, and as long as it doesn't screw me over, we're good.

Besides, if I got up in arms about this, I'd have no quality place to look up FFXI info. I'd rot in Mordion Gaol before using Alla again.

I agree. Who cares? If you donated, well I guess you shoulnd't have. Donating is optional. Would you not use the money however you damn please? What would the money be for if not for spending?

If you donate to me, I'll spend the money wherever I want to aswell.

While I agree that people shouldn't be getting too worked up over this (because really, it's a game site, and there isn't likely to be anything that they can do about this), I completely disagree that once you donate something, you lose any right to know what that money was used for, and to be unhappy when it wasn't used for it's intended purpose.

They solicited donations for one purpose, and when they didn't make enough, rather than explaining the situation outright, they did something else altogether, and then finally got around to explaining the situation to folks when they got called out about it. Also, they spent nearly $2k on frivolous items, with another $2k still unspent. Which means that they still had nearly half of the money they received left over after spending the rest on server rental. It's just poor money management.

Again though, this wasn't exactly a tax-deductible charitable donation. It was more like loaning money to a friend. Or some cross between the two. But the people who did donate (which aren't the ones getting angry for the most part anyway) have little to no options for recompense, so it's better to just get over it.

This isn't drama. This is taking advantage of the hardwork of many people who worked to make FFXwiki a better site. It's profiting off of people who thought they were in a project to help everyone gain information, not the founders make money.

That isn't just BG members, but several people who may only browse this site. Those people have the right to know that they are being scammed into making someone's product to be sold. It's always lovely to have people out there who rather have their head up their asses than actually notice and understand the truth of things. I can't believe people would be so petty in their grudges against internet sites to actually let things go, but then I remember who exactly are saying these things and suddenly, it's believable.

And I have to know, Kailea, what the hell happened to you during the initial stages of your growth that made you so... I can't even put it in words.

I will be boycotting wiki and helping the alla and bg forms of wiki, hacking btw had nothing to do with the first slew of info. Becoming rich off the communities work is wrong imo. There is no need for a drama thread here, but people have the right to know, I think we can all agree with that.
