Re: Any info on the new grips?

If that were the case, DRG/THF would definately benefit, but I don't see how that'd fare better overall against /SAM or even /WAR. Of course, I'm still wanting more WSs over the course of a minute rather than one guaranteed-all-hit WS once a minute, especially since Blade: Skewer and Penta Thrust got a boost. Time (and testing) will tell.

Re: Any info on the new grips?

Well, I've done a little bit of testing on TW and EP mobs.

      1) SA Spinning Slash @ 100% (STR75+38) - 1167 Vs TW Tabar Beak
      2) Spinning Slash @ 100% (STR75+38) - 1187 Vs TW Tabar Beak
      3) SA Spinning Slash @ 220% TP (STR75+38) - 1347 Vs. TW Tabar Beak
      4) Spinning Slash @ 229% TP (STR75+38) - 1387 Vs. TW Tabar Beak

      ------

LS SAM was on, and it occurred to me that the Shadow Dragon would be a great means to test this. EP at LV.75, decent HP, and DEF isn't horrible. Run out to Xarca and it appears a DRG testing out the new 2 Handed changes was getting it before we were.

"<Odude> Wanna go 1 shot the Boreal Hounds?"

Forgot where it was, so I actually go in and agro the Tiger. (Why does it cast BLM spells but have Mighty Strikes? What's that all about?) Started with a 1200 Spinning Slash in just minimal STR (Hauby, Chiv Chain, Amemet +1). Once SAM caught up (He's a Galka, it's to be expected) I had him open Light for me. He tossed out a 1300+ Kasha, I followed with a 1300+ SS while Light did a retarded 347. A combined 2700 damage from WS and 347 was our treat?

After nearly dieing to the Tiger's Mighty Strikes, I switched to Scythe. 5 straight Guillotines and I had yet to miss a single hit. Told the SAM to try Enpi. 5 straight, and he lands both hits each time.

Well, SA doesn't seem to deliver a Crit hit, but at the same time it doesn't appear to be required at this point. SAM also believes his Crit rate went up. I haven't paid that close attention to it, but my SAM50 party earlier in the night, I noticed a ton of Crits.

Guillotine dropped 1400+ 3 times in a row, so I decide to head back and change my sub to WAR and try it out on Robber Crabs in the Tunnel.

      DRK/WAR STR79+34 w/ Scythe

      889 with just minimal STR
      1200 with +34

Cross Reaper, which I've always seemed to have a problem landing that 2nd hit, is 100% accuracy now. Have any DRGs noticed that now their Pentas are 100% Acc? I first thought we'd have an update to resolve the SA problems, but now I think it may be a bigger issue.

It wasn't a question Wish (that's why there wasn't a question mark behind it). I think you guys called it a rethorical question or something like that.

Is testing against EP or low NMs that they said a 51 PT could take down a good way to decide accuracy for a WS? Also is this about /THF or does this change include to main THF (if it's main THF too I think I just got a little more happy with the update)?I would think against at least Tough or higher would give better results as to wether or not SA will guarentee full hits on all multi-hit WSs. In fact go up against a Mamool Lurker and see if a SA + Guillotine will get you full hits and if it does I'd be convinced.

Even if it truly gave full hits on a WS I'd agree with LilithAngel that it's not worth subbing THF over WAR or SAM b/c dot potential is higher with those jobs and to just see a higher number on WS doesn't mean as much as dot imo. Especially since were in a time where people like to spam their WS or face it getting taken by a colibri or something.

Hm......seems like Platinum Grips are the most expensive ones on my server. Is that Stun often?

Everything's new, so price is not going to be indicative of performance just yet.

Re: Any info on the new grips?

I got a hold of a +1 Plat Grip earlier today, and went out in a merit to test it and a Mythril +1 (tards were trying to sell Sword and Pole Straps for 4-7m lawlz). I tried out the plat+1, and I noticed a few Stuns, but none too common (mainly cuz of the short lifespan of the Mamool and the surrounding mobs). Mythril +1 was solid, I liked its performance, and I'll prolly use this one until I can get a Pole Strap.

I'll test the Plat +1 in various solo exercises later. I'm thinking it'll proc more often due to the mob living a bit longer. Also, didn't I hear that if you have more than one proc, that there's a certain hierarchy as to what procs first/more often? Mezraq's EVA Down might be interfering with the Stun proc...

Oh well, that's why I have Tournament Lance for.

EDIT: Man, I need to invest in more STR gear or something, because I was getting *very* solid and big Skewers, but my Pentas were rather sketchy. Even at 300%, they'd fall short of my expectations (and I have a rather large set of STR/Att on usually, and actually went back and unretired some of my old gear). Looks like I'll be using Skewer as my staple until I can find a good set for Penta.

EDIT2: Sev, what days/times? I've got a number of things I'm doing this weekend, but if I can swing it, I'd love to drop on in. I wanna give the old DRG/WAR standby a go, see if that hasn't changed enough to help some with Penta/DMG in general (it'll feel so weird not having Hasso, Meditate, and obscene amounts of Store TP handy to do my thing).

Still in a SAM EXP party in the 50's, so I haven't been able to test it yet.
That's false. Sneak Attack is unchanged. To my knowledge, Sneak Attack has always made all hits in a round 100%, one-handed or two-handed, weapon skill or normal hits. I know that if it was changed, it wasn't in this update. Leveling DRG/THF 30-37 earlier this month, I noticed that Double Thrust had 100% accuracy with Sneak Attack. Where as without it, it was rare for both hits to land. I have also heard of people using SA with Kraken Club and all hits landed, everytime.

The reason why Sneak Attack seems like it doesnt work anymore is because they raised the pDIF for normal 2H attacks from 2.4 to 3.0, which is also the cap for criticals. If you use it on something where you aren't capping your pDIF, you will notice a difference. In example, The last boss in ToAU, my normal Yuki/Gekko/Kashas with Hagun were only doing around 200-300 where as my Sneak Attack WS were doing 400-600.

I saw a screenshot on KI of a GM saying that this update was preparing us for WotG from this thread. If the last boss in ToAU is a taste of what's to come in WotG, then I believe WotG will be comparable to 'pre-nerf' CoP in difficulty. Hell, probably harder, I really doubt I could've beat AU44 w/o the 2-hander update unless they extended the time limit.

See my thread in the DRK forum over this. I missed 1/2 Cross Reaper on a TW mob. Go figure.

I don't understand why he would think this. DRK/WAR has and will always be the prime DD combo. Double Attack + consistent "capped" damage returns the best potential. You are basically riding the ceiling. All SAM sub will give you is a little bit edge on TP, but your WSs aren't going to be consistent and neither will your "per hit" damage.

SA guarantees all hits in an attack round, but it won't guarantee the that the other hits in a WS will land.

This is entirely and completely inaccurate and flat out wrong. SA only works on the first hit of any WS and does not stack with Multihit weapons or Double/Triple Attack in any way, shape or form. It's always been just the first hit and only the first hit. There is *zero* way any more then one swing of the K-Club could ever stack with SA. None.
