  • Any info on the new grips?

Pretty much what the thread title says, I'm hoping some kind person will be able to list the new grips

Katana, Axe, and Staff grip comes from using 20,000 Imperial Standing Points

Sword, Pole, Spear, and Claymore are unknow

        The rest are crafted.

Re: Any info on the new grips?

Am I the only one disappointed here? They showcase the new grip system, making it seems like they're all gonna have DLY-% or a Haste like effect to make the long delay of these weapons more desirable and the only one that does, is the one they listed.

Now the Claymore Grip would be nice with the Subduer, but as a DRK if I'm forced to sub /NIN why not just go Woody/Manny? Double Attack+2% could add up when incorporated in with Brutal and other DA gear but that really seems about it.

Now I'm still doing the update, and I'm sure other data will come about in the coming weeks, but at present I'm looking at DLY-3% and Crit+3% as the only thing worth while in this category.

Because according to the peeps at Blue Gartr, every 1 STR translates into 1 Attack, which means your base Attack is now even higher, and STR on gear isn't lol by any means whatsoever, plus the possibility that S-E decided to make it so 2-handed weapon damage doesn't take as much of a hit for each level the mob is (see: "2-handers will do more damage against high level enemies.")

            Just a thought?

              Screw the grips.

The DRK in my LS just reported a his best Guillotine ever (over 2000). (Well, EP critter.) DRG LS mate did a 1200 Skewer on DC. I've no clue what they normally do, but they seem happy with the changes. ^_^

PDIF ranges have been changed. Alla DRK is reporting hitting for 333 EVERY TIME on Ronfaure Bunnies, even non-crit hits. He has 111 DMG + fSTR. 3.0 PDIF was only achievable with crits before.

I wonder why people just think that grips was the only change made to 2 handed weapons. I mean I thought they changed the way 2 handed weapon's dmg was calculated as well.

I got off a 900 damage Skewer vs the Windurst 6-1 Cardians with only Mithkabobs and no other buffs, I'm pretty happy right now.

As far as the grips usefullness, it's a little up in the air right now IMO. I think there are 3, maybe 4 grips that are useful for melees, Mythril+1, Platinum, Pole, and perhaps Claymore.

The Platinum will be largely dependant IMO on how often the stun effect procs, if it's not that often then I'd probably go for a Mythril+1 grip over the Platinum, or at least until we know where the Pole grips come from (rumors say some ODS BCNM, not sure what ODS stands for)

While I would have liked a few alterations to the grips, I'm pretty happy with them. I think the real boost to two handed weapon jobs came with the way the damage for two handed weapons are now calculated, I am seeing a huge difference in my performance after this update.

I picked up a myth+1 grip for myself, passing over the katanna and Axe ones. Though the -delay and DA+ ones seems great. Overall though i can't shake a nagging feeling that the weapon specific grips have some sort of hidden latent. But someone else will have to test that as I don't have access to all those weapons or grips.

Also, is it true the 1 dex = 1 acc thing now, similar to the new str/att ratio? If so that means dex rings would actually be an advantage over most acc rings now. Not only would they give the same Acc they'd also up crit rate and give some thunder resist boosts. Small advantages yes, but they'd still be much cheaper then straight up acc rings.

I'll get the Bugard Strap +1 when I get the gil (or when the price drops), people are charging 150k for them ATM and I just don't have that right now. Or the inventory space, for that matter, but I don't think it's essential anyway since I haven't really played RDM lately except for soloing and missions.

Has anybody else come across the rumor that Sneak Attack doesn't proc on 2handed WS now? I've heard it now lands all hits, but no crit on the first hit. Effectively killing Spinning Slash, maybe even Steel Cyclone.

Still in a SAM EXP party in the 50's, so I haven't been able to test it yet.
