  • Prediction of poster reaction to update thread

Time to post your predictions, not of the update itself, but of how everyone will react to the update!

    1. Someone will say how disappointed they are the official windowed mode wasn't a part of the update.
    2. Someone will say how BST got the shaft yet again (and if there was actually a change to BST, they'll say it wasn't a good enough change to make a difference)
    3. Malacite will ask if SE is smoking crack. No update is complete until this happens.

Re: Prediction of poster reaction to update thread

I am betting SE will throw something that is totally bs in the update, but since we are getting job adjustments and suck, people will kinda overlook the bs.
    Thanks Kazuki.

Re: Prediction of poster reaction to update thread

      1. S-E's reaction: Emergency maintenance 3 hours into the update, as newly implemented PvP Chocobo Racing is already hacked and RMT/cheaters are making out like bandits by gaming the system.

      2. General Population's reaction: IT'S TOO SLOW! WHY CAN'T S-E GET MORE SERVERS ONLINE TO MAKE THIS DOWNLOAD FASTER?!

      3. Armando's reaction: Silence. (He passes out after 50-hr marathon session of testing new item type, "grip".)

      yet not a mote of dust is stirred;

leaving no trace in the water.

There will be complaints that SE doesn't do things like Blizzard and make the update available via torrent.

Its called the chocobo circuit, more things to do in game that don't revolve around the chicken last updates have been about chocobo's lets focus on something that is useful.

            1. After the first page, nothing said will be remotely related to the update. It will probably be about RDM and how it needs more spells.

"Grip." "Grip?! That's the best you can come up with?! Shame on you. You should know by now that the first thing I'd rush to test is the changes to the 2-handed weapon formulas.

You nailed me though. Well, for the most part. If only I could actually play during the week. And if only my playable weekend time consisted of more than just my Saturday. I also have some shield testing pending and more mob damage testing pending and...and...and it's driving me insane having so much to do and no play time to do it!

My prediction: Changes to two-handed weapons will be of great magnitude, akin to the two-handed weapon TP change and the Lv.68+ Dagger/Evisceration update. The DRKs and DRGs will whine it's not good enough, THFs will complain they didn't get anything and they can't compete with other jobs.

Re: Prediction of poster reaction to update thread

What has BST gotten of use in ToA?

Askar Set, Bibiki Shell and that's about it.

Will we complain there's no update this month?

No, because SE already told is in Pikko's E3 interview on Allakhazam that we would have to wait to be adjusted when the new jobs were introduced, which means we now not only take a backseat to every existing job in the game, but also ones that don't exist yet.

So the complaint will be no different than before - we're not a priority to SE and they don't really give a shit about fixing BST. Three years of practical solutions have been repeatedly submitted to SE - uncapping jugs, making recipies for high level jugs more practical. I should not have to pay 100k for one jug pet that last 15 minutes.

BST is not typically factored into the expense-based jobs of the game but 100K for one Amigo Sabotender jug that lasts 15 minutes vs. 12 pouches of x99 Silver Bullets?

Seems a bit off to me, but crafter greed also plays a big role. The materials are rare (we're talking KS/BCNM craft drops here, folks, but not expensive). We get charged on one jug for the value of the x4 HQ via 100+ Alchemy.

Even if you did level Alchemy to 100, camp the NMs (Cactuar NMs, at that) for drops, do chocobo digging, quest and KSNM for these items that is an insane amount of time/risk to invest versus the payoff isn't worth the effort. All that for possibly one 15 minute pet?

                Um, no.

Make Philosopher Stones and Cactuar Roots non-NM/BC/KSNM drops and the rarity of these cheap items cannot be exploited. They're not even used to craft much else that is useful. Panacea would be useful if people weren't so reliant on Erase and -na spells.

It will probably be about RDM and how it needs to have things taken away from it since they can solo everything in the game because it's God personified in a FFXI job.

By the way, 2k gil says the 2-handed weapon adjustments will make it so they get x2 fSTR and only half the level-based penalty to damage like ranged attacks do.

And then two-handed weapons will never be overshadowed by one-handers pre-merits again.

They'll just copy other game's features but implement them three year's too late for anyone to really care. Hello windower maybe some time 2008.

I complained about this well over a month ago after the E3 news from all sites.

                              Before E3 (from February 2006 to pre-E3 2007):

                              New adjustments are coming!
                              We haven't forgotten you, Beastmasters.
                              We're planning adjustments, Beastmasters!

                              At E3:

We'll adjust Beastmaster after the WotG is out. It would be unfair to other jobs to give BST an exclusive update, especially after the numerous exclusives we've given DRK in each update. In fact, don't expect adjustments for BST, we're going to put them behind three jobs we haven't throught of yet for the expansion after WotG. Improving BST now may disrupt the balance of all the other jobs that are nothing like it.
