I was wondering, how many people play multiple characters? I have my main, and currently leveling another to redo some quests. Not sure if I'm gonna also level this character, but leveling 2 jobs seems pretty nice.

Re: multiple characters
You can level all jobs on one character, so most people just do that. I know a few folks do have multiple characters, usually so that they can PL themselves, or for racial variety.

Re: multiple characters
I level two characters, same account so I can't PL myself
My original character did a lot of soloing, but I've pretty much grown disinterested in most of old jobs for Foobar, so I just recently decided to purge all his gear and just collapse my efforts into his 75 BRD for how.
It can get to be a bit much to manage two characters, but for the most part I've succeeded in getting them on equal footing in terms of mission progress, quests, fame and the like.
The big advantage to having two characters is that you have the ability to specialize them. If you level too much stuff to 75 on one character, you run the risk of marginalizing yourself in several jobs, so when I've levelled Kitten, I've always looked for overlapping in equipment merits and the like. Marksmanship merits benefit COR and RNG, MP and Sword merits are good for COR/mage and BLU. COR and RNG also share a lot of gear, COR and BLU happen to share a bit of endgame gear. So as you can see, I have it pretty good on Kitten.
Foobar has been a persistant trial-and-error character for me. I've never really had a good plan for him. I know I spoke of my intentions for continuing BST the other day, but after looking at how methodical I was with Kitten and how satisfied I am with that character, I'm just rebuilding "FooBRD" for now, getting him current on missions, finish his /NIN sub and then sitting back to see what jobs the next expansion may bring.
That's not to say I wasn't organized with any of the jobs I levelled on him. I was, its just that they all really ended up going nowhere for me. I'm only interested in new jobs now, new jobs offer exploration over the expectations forced on many jobs right now.
The good thing with Foobar is, being the original, most of the subjob work is done - and that's really the tough part about two characters, mission retread notwithstanding. Kitten still has some work there, but should all be wrapped up before the next expansion.
So if you're going to have two characters, its important to have a plan for both of them if you want to pull it off. Foobar has taken a backseat for the last year because I had a plan for Kitten, Gambler was my favorite job ever and I didn't want BRD overshadowing COR for the most part, so it was more of a forced retirement for the taru at the time >.>
Still not terribly jazzed about BRD these days, I just find COR more fun. Once SE announces the jobs, I can start making new plans for Foobar.
As you can see in the banner sig, he's getting anxious for the spotlight again.Last edited by Omgwtfbbqkitten; 07-19-2007, 01:34 AM.

Re: multiple characters
I actually do have a second character leveled on the same account as Murphie, but I just use him as a mule these days. The thought has crossed my mind that I could level Ael in a strictly melee capacity, since, as an Elvaan, he has the slightest edge in that department (also allowing me to focus on magey things on Murphie), but I honestly don't know what I'm going to do.
I also have a second account that is currently dormant. I don't have the patience for two-boxing right now, but maybe in the future I might change my mind.

Re: multiple characters
I've geared up one of my mules for my friends 10 year old son to play on, but he's done all the levelling. I've played on another of my mules because it's a refreshing break to be a Tarutaru after years of Elvaanness (Elvaanity?). All the monsters are so huge and scary! Even the mandies!!

Re: multiple characters
I have characters on the same account leveled. Most people say it's stupid because you can level all jobs on one account, you have to do all limit quests again etc but I just love being to just log to another character and lfp instead of digging through all my gear to find the right gear and also I just like playing on different races and characters.

Re: multiple characters
Personally I have 3 accounts lol.
Account A: Sevv, I level all jobs on him because this is my character only.
Account B: Is an account I said got banned because I was tired of coming Blm and Whm to things, me and a friend leveled this. He since has quit and I own the account my self.
Account C: My Crafting mules, who i shared with 2 friends, we all put gil and time into them and used them to make our gil in the game. One has quit the other is quitting soon, so i can emmigrate this account to my new server soon!
If you only have one account, system to play on then I would say level them all on one character. The reason I say this is that it saves time, as well as allows you to raid on your main character (which is big for me) then your alt. Like BBQ pointed out the positive facts of two characters, it is really what you find you like more.

Re: multiple characters
I'm thinking of picking up a 360 in a couple of weeks. If I do, I might be tempted to try dual boxing again. It might be less annoying than doing it via PC. But maybe not.
If nothing else, I could sit on my couch.

Re: multiple characters
I tried it and personally didn't feel like doing things like quests again, as well as recapping skills. So when I leveled RDM on my Hume and enjoyed getting it to 60, I decided to just leave my Galka who I made first behind and just focus on one character. A good friend of mine does have 2 characters though, a Mithra and Hume. She made the Hume cause she got tired of getting harassed on her Mithra >_>Cleverness - Hades

Re: multiple characters
I have my main and 4 "business associates" (they're more than mules!) One "business associate" has a purchased airship pass (back during rampant inflation, 500k wasn't a big deal), Aht Urghan access, and 100+3 Bonecrafting.
I've considered leveling that particular char to 20 just for Chocobo access and Warp. But since I stopped building guild points and started using guild image support out in Whitegate / Al Zahbi, that desire faded away.Lyonheart
